Kinji Hakari, aka the Restless Gambler, is a popular character choice in JJS. He’s especially well-known for his powerful combo attacks and luck-based Domain Expansion. We’re going over everything you need to know about Hakari, including who he is, what’s included in his moveset, and whether he’s a good choice when you’re playing—so let’s go!

Who is Hakari in Jujutsu Shenanigans?

In JJS, Hakari, aka the Restless Gambler, is a powerful character with hard-hitting combos and a luck-based Domain Expansion called Idle Death Gamble. He’s based on the JJK character Kinji Hakari, a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High and the proprietor of the Gachinko Fight Club.

  1. Hakari is also known as the Restless Gambler. He was the first Early Access player added to JJS, meaning players with the Early Access pass could play him before his moveset was complete.[1] He’s based on the character Kinji Hakari from Jujutsu Kaisen.
    • In JJK, Hakari is a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High, but after he’s suspended, he begins running the Gachinko Fight Club, a for-profit sorcerer fighting ring. He most notably appears in the Shinjuku Showdown and Culling Game arc.[2]
    • Hakari’s cursed energy is unique for its sharp, rough texture.

Hakari’s Moveset in JJS

  1. 1
Base Moveset Hakari’s base moveset does decent damage, but it really shines when you chain together moves in a combo. For instance, you can hit an opponent 3 times with your M1 (left click), with Reserve Balls to stun them, ragdoll them with Reserve Balls, and toss them into the air with Rough Energy. This takes about 15% of their total health if you land it right.[3]
    • Ability 1—Reserve Balls: Hakari throws a small steel ball at the opponent. The projectile stuns the opponent from longer ranges or ragdolls them at close range.
    • Ability 2—Shutter Doors: Hakari summons two shutter doors, crushing and stunning the opponent.
    • Ability 3—Rough Energy: Hakari gathers sharp cursed energy into his fist, then punches the opponent, knocking them backwards. This move has a long windup. It can also be used as an aerial move.
    • Ability 4—Fever Breaker: A ranged flying kick that throws the opponent backward into two shutter doors, then a second kick that launches them through the doors.
    • Special (R)—Door Guard: Hakari puts up two shutter doors to block the opponent. If the doors hit the other player, Hakari punches the doors, knocking the other player backwards.
  2. 2
Domain Expansion—Idle Death Gamble Once Hakari’s damage bar is full, the user can activate his Awakening, triggering the Domain Expansion Idle Death Gamble. During Idle Death Gamble, the user must perform two visual moves to randomly trigger one of two luck-based Richii scenarios—Transit Card or Travel Emergency.[4]
    • Visual Moves: These can include Reserve Balls, Shutter Doors, Fever Breaker, or Door Guard. It’s usually preferable to use Reserve Balls and Shutter Doors because they don’t have to hit the opponent, but Fever Breaker and Door Guard do.
    • Transit Card Richii: The dummy (Tze) must pass a train checkpoint to activate the Jackpot. This is a one-star scenario, so it has a lower chance of triggering the Jackpot.
    • Travel Emergency Richii: Tze is running to the bathroom. If he makes it in, it triggers the Jackpot. This is a two-star scenario, so there’s a higher chance of winning.
    • Jackpot: Successfully completing a scenario will trigger the Jackpot. If the scenarios fail 3 times, the 4th is guaranteed to win, but it will only last 50 seconds instead of 1 minute and 40 seconds.
  3. 3
Awakening—Jackpot After Idle Death Gamble, Hakari will be “immortal” for the amount of time determined in the Jackpot. He’ll rapidly regenerate his health after every attack, making him extremely difficult to kill. (He’s still vulnerable to one-shot hits or especially powerful, rapid combos.) His attacks during the Awakening include:
    • Ability 1—Lucky Volley: Hakari punches the opponent several times, then knocks them backwards.
    • Ability 2—Lucky Rushdown: Hakari sprints forward, and if he contacts an opponent, he grabs and drags them, then knocks them backwards.
    • Ability 3—Overwhelming Luck: Hakari rushes forward and delivers a powerful hit that knocks the opponent backwards, then sprints forward and hits the opponent several times, then gives them a powerful final punch.
    • Ability 4—Energy Surge: Hakari charges the opponent and knocks them upwards, then kicks them mid-air, throwing them down to the ground.
    • Special (R)—Rhythm: Hakari dances, shortening the cooldowns for all of their moves and giving him an attack speed boost.

Is Hakari a good character to play in JJS?

PDF download Download Article
  1. Hakari is considered a decent option in JJS. He’s sometimes overlooked in favor of players with bigger hits, but a lot of people think he’s underrated. His combos are fun to play and easy to learn, especially if you’re a newer player. He does a lot of damage, his cooldowns are fairly fast, and his health regeneration after a jackpot makes him really powerful during Awakening.[5]
    • That said, some of Hakari’s moves do have a slower windup time, making it easy to avoid or counter them.[6] You also need to master his combos to do really powerful damage to your opponent. Additionally, his Domain Expansion is luck-based, which can be frustrating if you get the shorter Jackpot.
