Hiromi Higuruma, also known as the Defense Attorney, is a free character in JJS. And with his powerful combos, one-shot hits, and hard-to-beat Domain Expansion, he might be one of the strongest options in the game. We’re covering everything you need to know about Higuruma, including who he is, his moveset, and whether he’s a good option. Let’s get started!

Who is Hiromi Higuruma in JJS?

Hiromi Higuruma, or Defense Attorney, is an attorney-turned-sorcerer. He has a powerful Domain Expansion called Deadly Sentencing, where a shikigami named Judgeman puts opponents on trial in a courtroom. Higuruma’s base moveset used a cursed gavel as a weapon, and during his Awakening, he uses an Executioner’s Sword.

  1. In Jujutsu Shenanigans, Higuruma is free to play. He has 100 HP and is widely considered a strong character. His Domain Expansion takes the form of a courtroom trial called Deadly Sentencing.
    • In Jujutsu Kaisen, Hiromi Higuruma starts as an attorney who specializes in defending clients he believes to be wrongfully accused. After seeing the justice system fail his innocent client, he snaps, triggering his Domain Expansion, where a shikigami (spirit) called Judgeman appears to judge those around him.
    • In JJK, Higuruma progresses rapidly, entering the Culling Game and defeating more experienced sorcerers.
    • Higuruma is unique because most sorcerers have to train for a long time to learn to activate their Domain Expansion, while Higuruma has to train to learn to control his.

Higuruma’s Moveset in JJS

  1. For his base moves, Higuruma uses a gavel that can change size and shape. He is the first character in JJS to use a cursed tool for their base moveset. His basic melee moves include:
    • Ability 1—Extended Swings: A 4-hit combo with the gavel, with a slam on the last hit.[1] This move can be blocked.
      • Variant: Press the special key before the last hit to break the opponent’s block. However, if the opponent doesn’t block, the hit won’t land, and they can attack you.
    • Ability 2—Justice Served: The gavel becomes giant and slams into the opponent, then launches them into the air.[2] This can break a block and may be used long-range.
      • Variant: If the opponent blocks the gavel slam, they faceplant into the ground. (However, this doesn’t count as a ragdoll.)
    • Ability 3—Judgement’s Reach: The gavel becomes a long-handled hammer. The player lunges forward, pulls the opponent to them with the hammer, hits them twice, then pushes them backward.
      • Variant: If the target blocks from the front, the move ends by pushing the opponent forward instead.
    • Ability 4—Twirling Strikes: This is a short spinning move with 6 hits. The last hit launches the opponent into the air.[3]
      • Variant: Press the special key during the move to do a block-breaking leg sweep.
    • Grapple: If you hit the opponent while they are in air after Justice Served or Twirling Strikes, the gavel turns into a hook and the player grapples to the opponent.[4]
    • Special—No Escape: Press the special key during a move to launch the gavel at the opponent (or trigger a variant).
      • Special Variant: Hit the special again before the gavel returns to launch the player toward the opponent.
  2. Higuruma’s domain awakening, known as Deadly Sentencing, forms a courtroom barrier that opponents can’t fight their way out of. The opponent is put on trial by the shikigami Judgeman.[5] The opponent choose a plea option (Confess, Silence, or Denial), and the player must guess which one they’ll choose. The goal is to match the opponent’s choice three times—and if you both choose Confess, it counts as 3 guesses.[6]
    • If you match 1: The result is Confiscation (the opponent loses 2 moves for 120 seconds).
    • If you match 2: The result is Execution (Higuruma awakens and is given the Executioner’s Sword).
    • If you match 3 (or both choose Confess): The result is Confiscation (the opponent loses 1 move for 120 seconds) and Execution (Higuruma awakens and is given Executioner’s Sword).
  3. If Higuruma successfully awakens after the Domain Awakening, he’s granted the Executioner's Sword. He’ll also have the following attacks while the Awakening is active:
    • Ability 1—Execution: A forward dash with a powerful hit and excellent range. The first hit removes an arm and adds an Executioner stack. The second hit removes a leg and adds another stack, and the third hit (or stack) kills the opponent.[7] This unblockable move can also be used mid-air.
    • Ability 2—Final Judgement: The player runs forward, then swipes and slices the enemy. During the fight, both players must hit a random button. If the player fills their bar first, it kills the opponent. If the opponent wins, the move does less damage overall.[8]
    • Ability 3—Verdict: This move is a knock, then a slash. If the opponent gets hit by the slash, it adds one Executioner stack. If the opponent gets 3 stacks, they’re killed.[9]
    • Ability 4—Triple Sentence: The player throws their Executioner’s Sword 3 times, dashing after it each time.[10] Each time the sword hits, it adds an Executioner stack, killing them if they have 3 stacks on the final strike.[11] If the opponent already has 2 stacks, they’ll dodge the first two sword strikes, so the third strike must hit to kill the opponent.
    • Special—Domain Amplification: Exchange 15% of the Awakening bar for a shield that will absorb one hit, including powerful one-shot moves from characters like Sukuna.

Is Higuruma a good character to play in JJS?

PDF download Download Article
  1. Higuruma’s moves do a lot of damage to opponents. They don’t take as long to cool down as some characters’ moves, the ranged moves add a lot of versatility during battles, and moves like Final Judgement and Triple Sentence can one-shot an opponent. Higuruma’s Domain Expansion is also really solid since opponents can’t fight their way out.
    • That said, some of Higuruma’s moves are a little unreliable or have limited use, and his attacks are weaker during Awakening. His block-breaking moves can be hard to land, too.
