Chara, also known as the Cursed Child, is an Overpowered character in Jujutsu Shenanigans, but they can only be unlocked as part of an exclusive collab between JJS and Jump Showdown. There are two ways to get Chara—one permanent (at least for the duration of the JJS x JSD event) and one temporary. We’ll show you how both work, discuss whether they’ll be a long-term addition to the game, and explain Chara’s origins.

How do you unlock Chara in JJS?

Join Jump Showdown on Roblox.
Go to Shinjuku Station.
Wait for Heian Sukuna to spawn in the Boss Event.
Fight Sukuna, doing as much damage as possible until he dies.
Get the Defeated the King of Curses badge to unlock Chara.

Unlocking Chara in JJS

Go to Shinjuku Station in the Roblox game Jump Showdown. Chara is only obtainable through the JJS x JSD crossover event, so start by joining Jump Showdown (or JSD, for short). Head to Shinjuku Station, which is near the back of the map.^{[1]

- When you spawn into the game, run across the wide grassy area and through a gap in the big stone wall with pillars—you’ll find Shinjuku Station there.

Wait for Heian Sukuna to spawn. Once you’re in Shinjuku Station, wait for the Boss Event to start. That only happens every 30 minutes, and even then, Sukuna only spawns 50% of the time—so there’s a chance you’ll have to wait.^{[2]

Fight Heian Sukuna until he’s defeated. Sukuna is also known as the Strongest of History, and he’s a really tough boss. He often kills players with a single hit, and it can take a long time to defeat him. If he kills you, run back into the fight and keep attacking until he dies.^{[4]

- It can help to play with other people, but keep in mind that you need to be in the top 3 of total damage dealt to get a badge after the battle.

Get the badge to unlock Chara in JJS. If you finish in the top 3, you’ll be awarded the Defeated the King of Curses. Earning this achievement will unlock the Cursed Child and their whole moveset. Head back to Jujutsu Shenanigans, then select Cursed Child from the Characters menu at the top of the screen to play as Chara.
- You may need to join a private server to select Chara.
- Chara’s moves include Onslaught, Bloody Mary, Cursed Remedy, and their domain expansion “SINCE WHEN WERE YOU THE ONE IN CONTROL?”^{[5]

- You’ll also unlock the Cursed Child emote, where you pose with a red knife in one hand and a sign that says “<3 Fight” in the other.

Temporarily Playing as Boss Chara

Pick up the Real Knife from the subway portal. In JJS, head to the subway area, then look for the portal. Then, be ready to wait. According to the JJS V1.72 update notes, the Real Knife spawns every 2 hours.^{[6]

- Picking up the knife will turn you into Boss Chara—at least temporarily. You’ll stop being Chara when you die or the session ends.
- You can play as Boss Chara in a public server.^{[7]

- If you kill at least one person as Boss Chara, you’ll unlock the character Yuji (or Vessel) in Jump Showdown.

Where does Chara come from?

Chara is taken from Chara Dreemurr from Undertale. In the game Undertale, Chara is a human who falls into the Underground, a world of monsters. They’re adopted by the king and queen of the Underworld, and they eventually turn against humankind.^{[8]

Is Chara a good character in JJS?

Chara is an Overpowered character in JJS. Overpowered means they’re extremely strong—but it’s worth noting that OP characters can usually only be played in special game modes, like in Roulette or on a private server.^{[10]

- In this video, YouTuber UltraHands calls Chara “peak.”
- That said, some players don’t like Chara because they feel really different from other characters in JJS, like in this YouTube video from @Burger Socks. Also, some of their moves have a long activation time or endlag, and some attacks are difficult to lag.

Will Chara stay in the game after the event?

Chara is likely a limited-time character. Because Chara is only obtainable through the Jujutsu Shenanigans x Jump Showdown collab event, players likely won’t be able to get them after the event ends. It remains to be seen whether players who unlocked Chara will be able to keep them after the event is over, but they’re listed as a “limited-time” character on her JJS Fandom wiki page.
- It’s not known exactly when the event will end—probably in late March 2026.
