It literally turns the game against you, making it so you’re constantly on your toes wondering how you’re going to die next. Flywheel of Terror is a Minecraft horror mod that turns your game against you by making you hallucinate, teleporting you to different places, and having your own house attack you. Even mobs behave differently, with most of them running away from you—except for the Iron Golem, which is instantly hostile towards you.

The Flywheel of Terror mod turns your game against you in various ways. This horrific mod by Korost is made to haunt you with terrifying encounters, hallucinations, and unpredictable events. It keeps you on edge, first spawning you in with a cleaver and soon making you hallucinate, lose health randomly, lose the ability to sleep, and even get attacked by your own house.
- TikTok Example: On February 23, 2026, @heppyontt posted a video of themselves screaming after being jumpscared by the mod after a cow chased them and a random image flashed on screen.
- There isn’t much known about the lore of the mod, but it does seem to point at the player as someone struggling with severe psychosis and mental illness who murdered their family, is all alone, and has a deteriorating mental state.
- The mod also features hyper-realistic skins of mobs and people, and a noticeable lack of music, adding to the eerie feel.
- YouTuber Astrox3D posted their experience playing the mod, saying “flywheel of terror made me cry,” before showing their playthrough.

The mod was banned because of reported hate speech and imagery. On popular mod sites like CurseForge, the Flywheel of Terror mod was banned because it violated the Terms of Service. This is because there were reportedly racial slurs in the code and skins displaying members of hate groups, but nothing has been confirmed.^{[1]

- Reddit user u/TheRealOracleFox, says “I looked at the source code on my laptop and yes…There are two class files called “labyrinth_event.class” and “world_change.class” that have a no-no word in the code,” but, again, nothing has been confirmed.

Some claim the mod was banned because it showed real people. The skins of this mod were also reported to once be real people, which many claim is another reason why it was banned. Reddit users say the mod once had real people, but the creator had to delete and reupload the mod with AI skins. While this hasn’t been proven, the mod does use AI skins, as stated in the disclaimer on Modrinth.^{[2]

Although the Flywheel of Terror mod was once available on CurseForge, users have reported that the current links crash their game when they try to run it. Unlike vanilla Minecraft, this mod spawns you in with a cleaver that you can use to instantly slash away at enemies. This cleaver seems to be enchanted and has a more realistic skin than the other cubed Minecraft weapons, being shaped like an actual meat cleaver.

Unusually Behaving Mobs Rather than remaining passive, most of the mobs in the Flywheel of Terror mod run away from you on site. Iron Golems will instantly be hostile upon seeing you, too, making for a confusing experience that makes you wonder what exactly it was you did to make everyone so afraid and upset.
- Sometimes, mobs will walk or slide sideways, adding to the unsettling feel of this mod.
Perhaps the creepiest thing about this mod is the lack of music. Unlike usual Minecraft, there’s no background music or ambient sounds. Besides the standard world-interacting sounds, it’s otherwise quiet. This makes for an unsettling experience that leaves a constant chill running up and down any players’ spine as they wonder what the heck it’s so quiet for.
Another freaky feature of the Flywheel of Terror mod is that it disorients you by darkening your screen, flashing random images, and teleporting you to new locations. This makes for a fun, jarring experience that can throw you off of your game just as much as it excites you, especially if you’re a horror fan!
The scariest thing about this mod is that it constantly tracks you so it can mess with you. Whether it’s having your own house attack you, stealing your items from chests, and moving you to different locations when you try to defend yourself, the player-tracking makes sure you’re on-edge.
