If you’re playing The Forge on Roblox, you’ve probably noticed that it can take a really long time to gather the ores and cash needed to upgrade your weapons, armor, and pickaxe. If only there were a way to keep mining ores or fighting enemies while you were away from the computer. Actually, there is! It’s called AFK mining, and we’re breaking down how to do it, plus the best spots for mining ore and essence—and whether it’s cheating. Let’s get started!

How do you AFK in The Forge?

Escape Glitch: Hold down the left mouse button, click Escape, release the mouse button, and click Escape again.
Autoclicker: Install a program that repeatedly mines or attacks for you—no hands required.
Macro: Use software to repeat short tasks, like walking while attacking enemies.

Press Escape while mining to keep swinging your pickaxe. Walk up to an ore you want to mine and hold down the left mouse button to start swinging. Then, hit the Escape key to bring up the Exit menu. Let go of the mouse button, then hit the Escape button again. Your character will keep swinging their pickaxe, allowing you to mine without actively clicking. This is an in-game glitch, but it occurs consistently
- If you’re playing on mobile: Equip your pickaxe, then hold down the mine button. Click the Roblox menu button in the top left of the screen to bring up the Exit menu. Then, let go of the mine button and close the exit menu.
- You’ll keep swinging the pickaxe for up to 20 minutes—after that, you’ll be timed out for inactivity. If you want to stop sooner, just click the left mouse button again.
- This simple, quick trick is perfect when you want to step away for a moment, but you don’t want to bother installing an auto-clicker or macro on your device.

Use an auto-clicker to stand in one place and farm. An auto-clicker is a type of software that spams the left click button. To use it in The Forge, find a spot where you can mine ores or fight enemies without having to move around. Enable the auto-clicker, then walk away. You won’t time out because the clicks count as activity.
- If you’re mining ores: Check in every 20–30 minutes—your inventory will get full, so you’ll need to sell your stash or forge the ores into weapons and armor.^{[1]

- If you’re fighting enemies: The essence that you get from enemies doesn’t count towards your inventory limit, so if you’re sure the enemies won’t kill you, you don’t have to check in.^{[2]

Use a macro to repeat short tasks. A macro is a script (or lightweight program) that records your movements and clicks, then repeats them. In The Forge, macros are best for mining essence by fighting enemies in a relatively enclosed area (like a hallway or tunnel). If you have the Sell Anywhere game pass, you can also use them to mine ores. Here’s how it works:^{[3]

- To mine essence with a macro:
  - Find an area where enemies spawn and equip your weapon. (Be sure they’re enemies you can defeat easily.)
  - Hit record on the macro.
  - Spam the left mouse button to attack. At the same time, walk back and forth along a short path.
  - Stop recording, then turn on “Continuous Playback.”
  - Your character will repeat the actions you just performed, fighting enemies in the same area until you disable the macro.
- To mine ores with a macro (requires the Sell Anywhere pass):
  - Find an area with valuable ores and no enemies. Equip your pickaxe.
  - Hit record on the macro.
  - Mine several ores (either walk back and forth or wait for them to respawn).
  - Open your menu, then click “Sell Anywhere” > “Sell Items” > “Select All” > “Accept” > “Yes”
  - Stop recording and turn on “Continuous Playback.”
  - (Note: If you have valuable ores that you don’t want to sell, favorite them before turning on the macro. This will save them in your inventory.)

Best Spots for AFK Mining Ores in The Forge

Crumbling Halls Go to the Ruined Cave on top of the hill in the Forgotten Kingdom. Enter the cave and head to the left. When you reach the Crumbling Halls, go straight until you see two Basalt Cores next to each other. Stand so you can hit both of the rocks at the same time.
- Enemies won’t spawn here, making it a safe spot to AFK.
- This is a good spot if you’re new to the Forgotten Kingdom, since you only need a Cobalt Pickaxe.

Ashen Passage: Left Path This spot is another good option if you’re relatively new to the Forgotten Kingdom. When you first enter the Ashen Passage, keep to the left until you see a column. Go around the column to find two Basalt Cores next to each other. You can stand here and mine without worrying about enemies.
- Rarely, one of these Basalt Cores spawns as a Basalt Vein. You’ll need at least a Mythril Pickaxe to mine the Basalt Vein—if one spawns here and you don’t have a strong enough pickaxe, it could decrease your AFK efficiency.
- The Ashen Passage has several areas that are good for mining. Don’t be afraid to explore, because you might find some that we haven’t come across yet!

Ashen Passage to Volcanic Depths This might be the most popular AFK spot in The Forge. Keep pushing through the Ashen Passage until you see volcanic rocks appear. Look for a hole in the ground—this is the tunnel that leads to the Volcanic Depths. Just inside the hole are two Basalt Veins.
- Either stand above the hole and look down at the ores to mine them, or jump down into the hole and stand next to the ledge.
- Because you can get really valuable ores here, this spot is often occupied. If you get there and someone else is already mining those rocks, just exit the game and rejoin until you find a server where the ores are free.

Ashen Passage: Back Wall Stand facing away from the hole that drops down into the Volcanic Depths and walk southeast. As you round a corner, you’ll find a Basalt Core and Basalt Vein next to each other.
- You can mine here without worrying about enemies.

Sunken Cells Start in the Crumbling Halls, then keep going until you drop down into the Sunken Cells. Keep to the left, and be careful—you’ll need to dodge powerful skeletons. In the northeast corner of the Sunken Cells, look for a Basalt Core and Basalt Vein next to each other.
- Stand behind the rocks in the alcove with the glowing plant. This will protect you from the enemies in the area.

Ashen Passage If you’re looking for a relatively easy place to fight enemies, go into the Ruined Cave and head to the right until you find the Ashen Passage. If you stand in the center of the main room, skeletons will attack you as they spawn.
- You can use the escape-attack glitch or equip an autoclicker to fight continuously. Or, use a macro and walk up and down the hall to ensure you draw all of the skeletons.

Crumbling Halls If you want a tougher challenge, head to the left when you enter the Ruined Cave. Once you get to the Crumbling Halls, jump to the platform on the left. Two strong skeletons will spawn here. You’ll often have to fight them at the same time, so be sure you have armor with solid defense and a weapon that does plenty of damage.
- Try crafting a weapon with Fireite or equip it with a Flame Spark rune to add Burn damage, which will help you kill enemies faster.^{[4]

Goblin Caves We recommend waiting until later in the game to unlock the Goblin Caves because it’s so expensive. But if you already have it unlocked, it’s a great place to grind for essence. If you’re using the escape-attack glitch or an autoclicker, stand near the entrance to the cave where 2–3 slimes spawn. They’ll drop high-value essences, so it’s a good spot to earn cash fast.
- If you’re using a macro, walk back and forth along the path killing slimes—you’ll earn even faster.
- Slimes don’t do as much damage as some of the other enemies with similar drops, so it’s safer to AFK while fighting them than it is with skeletons.

Volcanic Depths If you’ve maxed out your weapons and armor and you want to grind cash fast, drop down the hole that leads from the Ashen Passage to the Volcanic Depths. Fight the skeletons that spawn here for maximum essence.
- Because this area has a lot of enemies, it’s not a great place to mine for ores.
- These enemies are really strong, so it’s hard to AFK here without dying until really late in the game.

Is AFK mining considered cheating in The Forge?

No, but it’s somewhat frowned upon. So far, the admins haven’t banned users for AFK mining in The Forge. It’s a pretty common practice—even players who normally wouldn’t use an autoclicker or macro are willing to use the escape-attack glitch so they don’t have to hold the mouse button down while mining bigger ores.
- That said, some people think AFK mining is unfair, especially when using macros or autoclickers. And some games have banned players for using them, so it’s possible that The Forge could ban them in the future, too.
- This is a topic that’s sparked a lot of debate in the gaming community. Some people think it’s cheating, especially in competitive games, while others don’t see much of an issue.

Best AFK Mining Tips for The Forge

Want to take your AFK mining to the next level? If you’re going to be AFK mining, it only makes sense to try to maximize your earnings. Here are our favorite suggestions for how to make it worth your time:
- Clear your inventory: Before you start, craft gear to use as many ores as possible, freeing up your inventory space.
- Enhance your gear. Equip strong weapons and armor. Enhance them, then attach runes that will increase your Luck or Mining Speed if you’re mining ores, or your Defense or Attack if you’re mining essence.
- Make sure you have a skill equipped. Open the Menu, then go to the Achievements tab. Choose a skill that will improve your Luck or Mining Power if you’re mining ores, or your Max Health or Critical Chance if you’re mining essence.
- Check in occasionally. If you’re AFK on a public server—especially if you’re mining ores—peek in at the game occasionally. Other players might lure enemies to your spot to kill you so they can take your spot.
- Enable quests. Talk to as many NPCs as possible to start their quests. AFK mining will help you complete some of them passively, giving you huge boosts to your XP and gold.
- Join during events. Keep an eye on the game’s Roblox page so you’ll know when events are happening. If you can AFK during a 2x Luck event, you’ll have twice the chance of scoring rare ores or essences.
- Team up with more than one person to mine essence. If you have 1 or 2 friends who AFK mine, try to coordinate so you can gather in the same spot at the same time. Enemies will sometimes spawn out of your reach when you’re AFK—and if you don’t kill them, they won’t respawn. If there are multiple players spread out in the same spot, you’re more likely to kill every enemy, ensuring respawns.
