Are you not sure if your Discord is up to date? Updating Discord is the best way to squash bugs and glitches that frequent out-of-date programs. While Discord is usually set to update automatically, updating the app manually is easy on your PC, Mac, Android, iPhone, or iPad. This wikiHow article teaches you how to update the Discord app on any device.
Things You Should Know
- Update Discord to fix bugs, glitches, or performance issues, and maybe even get new features.
- If you're using a computer (Mac, PC, or Linux), close and reopen Discord to get updates.
- Use the Play Store or App Store to update Discord on your Android, iPhone, or iPad.
Steps
Android
-
Open the Google Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet . Tap the app icon that looks like a multicolored play icon.
- By default, you get updates automatically from the Google Play Store, but you can manually check if Discord has an update waiting.
-
Tap the search box at the top of your screen and type Discord. Alternatively, tap your profile icon and My apps and games to see any updates available for the apps installed on your phone or tablet.
- Tap the search result for Discord if you searched for it.
-
Tap Update. If you don't see this, then you have the most recent version of the app.
- If you did tap Update, then you're all set!
iPhone & iPad
-
Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad . Tap the app icon that looks like an "A" made of popsicle sticks.
- You can enable automatic updates, or manually update apps.
-
Tap your profile photo or initials. You'll see one of these two options at the top-right corner.
-
Scroll down and tap Update next to Discord. If you don't see this option next to "Discord" in your apps list, try searching for it to make sure the app doesn't have an update. If you still don't see the option to update, you're currently using the most up-to-date version.
Expert Q&A
Tips
-
If Discord is not updating for you, check the Discord server status to make sure the issue is on their end instead of yours. Thanks
-
In case the servers are working properly but your app on Windows still won't update, try right-clicking the app icon and running it as administrator so it has permission to overwrite other files it needs to for the update. Thanks
