Do you want to make someone your Best Friend on Snapchat? Best Friend status on Snapchat is indicated by a special Friend Emoji next to their name and determined by how often you exchange Snaps with a user. You can easily streamline the Best Friend status by focusing your activity on a specific user. You can have up to eight best friends at once, though the status is updated regularly based on interaction level. This wikiHow will show you how to add your Snapchat friends to your Best Friends list on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

How to Become Best Friends on Snapchat

To get on someone’s Snapchat best friends list, you have to interact with them more than other users. You must send Snaps and chats to each other frequently and consistently (at least a few times a day). To speed up the process, avoid snapping other contacts until you reach BFF status.

  1. 1
Best Friends on Snapchat are friends you chat with and Snap the most. These must be mutual interactions, so the friend must also send an equal amount of Snaps and messages back. To differentiate them from other friends, Best Friends must be communicated with much more than other users on your friend list.
    • If you have Snapchat+, you can pin someone as "Best Friends Forever" so they appear at the top of your list. This is private and can only be done for one user at a time. Just tap and hold their username, and then select Pin as your #1 Best Friend.[1]
    • If another user has Snapchat+ and pinned you as "Best Friends Forever" at the same time, you'll see a special Best Friend Emoji on your feed and friendship profile.
    • To increase your Snapscore to become Best Friends, add someone, send them Snaps, and chat with them.
  2. 2
Best Friends get special emojis. Similar to the Streak emoji and Birthday emoji, you'll see a special emoji next to a user that represents the way you and this user use Snapchat together.[2] The following emojis are:
    • Pink hearts (Super BFF): You and another friend have been each other's #1 Best Friend for two months in a row
    • Red heart (BFF): You and another friend have been each other's #1 Best Friend for two weeks in a row
    • Yellow heart (Besties): You and another friend are each other's #1 Best Friend
    • Smiley face (BFs): The user is one of your Best Friends, but not your #1 Best Friend
    • Grimacing face (Mutual besties): Your #1 Best Friend is also this user's #1 Best Friend
    • Emoji with sunglasses (Mutual BFs): One of your Best Friends is also Best Friends with this user

  1. To get Best Friend status with someone on Snapchat, you'll need to do the following:
    • Make sure to add your friend. You can't reach Best Friend status if they aren't on your friend list.
    • Send Snaps to your friend consistently and frequently. You'll need to both send and receive a high number of Snaps with a user to achieve Best Friend status. The number of interactions with them must be higher than with other Snap users.
    • Message your friend and reply back often. Reciprocity helps boost your chances for Best Friend status. If you're the only one sending Snaps, they may be your Best Friend, but you won't be theirs.

    • You can have up to eight Best Friends at once.
  2. It's in the top-left corner of the screen. This will open your profile page.[4]
  3. This option is in the middle of the page, underneath the Friends header. You may need to scroll down to find it.[5]
    • If you're physically near your friend and they have Snapchat open, they can scan your Snapcode to quickly add you. The Snapcode appears at the top of your profile page.
  4. It's at the very top of the screen. Your phone's keyboard will pop up.
  5. This will search the Snapchat database for them. You should see your friend's username appear in the middle of the page.
  6. It's next to your friend's username. This will add them to your Snapchat Friends list.[6]

    • The more snaps you send that friend, the sooner the person will end up on your Best Friends list.
    • Make sure the other person sends you just as many Snaps. While they may end up on your Best Friends list, they must also reciprocate the activity for the status to be mutual.
