In Roblox’s The Forge, your character’s race can have a huge impact on your gameplay. But to get a new race, you have to take the chance of rolling for a new one. How do you know which races are worth keeping and which are better to reroll? We’re here to help, so we’ve put together this tier list, breaking down the best and the worst races in the game—and everything in between.

S-Tier Races in The Forge

  1. Archangel is one of the newest races in the game, and it’s the rarest and highest-rated for a reason. It combines the Luck and Smite perks of Angel with the Hellfire Circle, attack speed, and physical damage boosts of Demon. If you’re lucky enough to pull this one, you’ll be instantly OP.[1]
    • Traits:
      • Demonic Powers: +20% Speed; +20% Attack Speed; +20% Fire Damage; +30% Height; +10% Width/Depth; +20% Physical Damage
      • Might Clover: +30% Luck Boost
      • Trail of Judgement: 50% chance to trigger Hellfire Circle on dash (deals 45% AoE weapon damage/second for 3 seconds)
    • Chance of obtaining: 0.1%
  2. Until the Archangel was added, Demon was considered the absolute best race in the game—if you get this one, you’ll want to keep it. You get 3 special attacks (Hellfire, Cursed Aura, and Backfire) that make you nearly unstoppable in combat, not to mention the boosts to speed, attack speed, physical damage, and fire damage.[2]
    • Traits:
      • Devil Finger: Dashing teleports you; 20% chance to activate Hellfire Circle on dash (deals 45% AoE weapon damage/second for 3 seconds)
      • Demonic Powers: +20% Speed; +20% Attack Speed; +20% Fire Damage; +30% Height; +10% Width/Depth; +20% Physical Damage
      • Cursed Aura: Deals 10% weapon damage/second
      • Backfire: 25% chance to burn enemies when hit
    • Chance of obtaining: 0.5%

  3. If you pull Angel when you’re rolling for races, consider yourself extremely lucky. It’s one of the rarest races in the game, and it has the stats to back that up. It would be worth it for the 30% Luck boost alone, but you also get invincibility and an extra attack that can deal 30% of your total physical damage—so it’s a great option for both mining and combat.[3]
    • Traits:
      • Holy Hand: Gain infinite Stamina when HP drops below 20%
      • Wings: +50% Dash Distance; +15% iFrames (invincibility); +20% Speed; +25% Jump Boost; +20% Stamina; -20% Dash Cooldown
      • Smite: 50% chance to deal 30% Physical Damage on-hit
      • Might Clover: +30% Luck
    • Chance of obtaining: 0.5%

A-Tier Races in The Forge

  1. Dragonborn is a great all-around race for combat. The Burn ability and increased damage quickly knock out enemies, and the boost to health means you’ll be able to stay in the battle longer. The height boost might make you a slightly larger target for enemies, but overall, this is our top pick behind the Mythical and Divine S-tiers.[4]
    • Traits:
      • Sharp Fangs: +12% Physical Damage
      • Dragon’s Breath: 40% chance to burn enemies for 30% weapon damage/second for 3 seconds
      • Durable Scales: +20% Max Health; +10% Height
    • Chance of obtaining: 1.5%
  2. If you’re looking for a great tank, you’re going to want to pull Golem. You sacrifice a little movement speed, but it’s worth it for the big boost in health and the chance to reduce incoming damage. And you get an attack speed boost if you equip a heavy weapon, so you can do a lot of damage to enemies without suffering much HP loss.[5]
    • Traits:
      • Heavy Hitter: +15% Attack Speed for heavy weapons
      • Tank: +30% Health; +30% Size; -10% Movement Speed
      • Stone Heart: 50% chance to reduce incoming damage by 25%
    • Chance of obtaining: 1.25%
  3. Felynx is another class just added with the latest update. This cat-like race is all about speed—you can move and attack faster and dash farther, plus you have a decent chance of parrying incoming attacks. The only drawback is that it takes the dash a little longer to cool down, but this isn’t super noticeable during gameplay.[6]
    • Traits:
      • Lightfooted: +25% Stamina Boost; +20% Movement Speed; -20% Dash Cooldown, +20% Dash Distance
      • Cat Reflexes: 20% chance to parry the next attack
      • Clawed Grip: +20% Attack Speed with Gauntlets; +20% Attack Damage with Gauntlets
    • Chance of obtaining: 1.25%
  4. The Vampire is another newly-added race, and it hits a little above the rest of the Epics thanks to its 15% chance of stealing life from an enemy. This pairs with a damage boost if you use a straight sword, making this a great choice for combat through the mid-game.[7]
    • Traits:
      • Bloodthirst: +15% Life Steal
      • Blade Adept: +10% Damage Boost with Straight Swords
    • Chance of obtaining: 4%

B-Tier Races in The Forge

  1. We’ll be honest—Goblin might not the best choice as your main race. But if you have multiple race slots equipped, hold onto this one if you roll it. The boosts to movement and dagger attack speed are helpful when you’re fighting, but the biggest perk here is the 12% discount when you’re shopping. Equipping Goblin before you buy a new pickaxe will save you big, especially later in the game.[8]
    • Traits:
      • Sneaky: +15% Movement Speed and +10% Dagger Attack Speed
      • Tiny: -15% Health and -15% Size
      • Bargain: +12% Discount when shopping
    • Chance of obtaining: 10.4%
  2. Like Goblin, Dwarf is most useful in a specific situation—in this case, mining. You have a 1 in 5 chance of dealing an extra 50% damage to rocks, which can help you snag rarer ores faster. The debuff to your movement speed means you won’t be as good in combat, but your shorter stature can make it easier to tuck into areas where enemies won’t attack.[9]
    • Traits:
      • Gifted Miner: +15% Mining; +5% Forging
      • Critical Mining: +20% chance to deal +50% damage to rocks
      • Heavy Short: -20% Height; -5% Movement Speed
    • Chance of obtaining: 5%
  3. Shadow is a pretty good combat class for the early- to mid-game. You do get a 10% health debuff, but the other class perks allow you to attack faster and evade damage, which helps balance that out. The Shadow Dodge perk is similar to Demon’s special move, so this is a good option if you like Demon but haven’t pulled it yet.[10]
    • Traits:
      • Phantom Step: 15% chance to transform into shadow & dodge attack
      • Shadow Pact: +10% Attack Speed; +15% Movement Speed; +5% Physical Damage; +10% Stamina, -10% Health
    • Chance of obtaining: 4%
  4. Minotaur is a tanky Legendary, but its biggest perk is that you get Rage Mode if your health drops below 50%. As you get stronger, this will happen less often, which just leaves you with a big, slow beast—not the most powerful choice, especially considering how rare it is.[11]
    • Traits:
      • Bull’s Fury: Going below 50% HP triggers Rage Mode with +30% Speed & +30% Physical Damage
      • Beast: +10% Height, +20% Health, -10% Stamina, -10% Movement Speed, +20% Width & Depth
    • Chance of obtaining: 1.75%

C-Tier Races in The Forge

  1. If you’re a combat-heavy player, the Orc is a decent choice earlier in the game. The tankier build is helpful when you’re fighting enemies, although you do trade it off for less stamina and movement speed. But there are better combat classes, so once you’re able to reroll, it’s usually worth the gamble.[12]
    • Traits:
      • Muscular: +10% Physical Damage; +15% Health; +10% Size
      • Heavy: -10% Stamina; -10% Movement Speed
    • Chance of obtaining: 8%
  2. Elf is a fairly decent early-game race. The boosts to luck and stamina are helpful when you’re mining and fighting enemies, plus you get cool elf ears. The only drawback is that the height boost makes you a slightly larger target for enemies. But the perks aren’t as good as some other races, which is why we only rated it a C-tier.[13]
    • Traits:
      • Glorious: +7% Luck
      • Superior Genes: +15% Stamina; +5% Height
    • Chance of obtaining: 14%

D-Tier Races in The Forge

  1. Human is the default race when you start the game. It’s balanced enough as a starting class—you get a small boost to Luck, and it’s the only race with an XP boost. But it doesn’t really have enough going on for it to keep it long-term.[14]
    • Traits:
      • Blessed: +3% Luck; +3% Experience
    • Chance of obtaining: 25%
  2. To put it plainly, Undead doesn’t have much going for it. You might look cool as a skeleton, but the health debuff leaves you vulnerable, and the health regen skill has a 5-minute cooldown—which can feel like forever when you’re in an area with a lot of enemies.[15]
    • Traits:
      • Second Chance: Refills 50% HP when HP falls below 10% (5-minute cooldown)
      • Fragile Bones: -12% Health
      • Sharp Surface: Reflects 10% incoming damage
    • Chance of obtaining: 9%
  3. Zombie might be a rarer race than Human, but we suggest re-rolling every time you land this one. While you do get faster health regen and a chance to gain back health when you take damage, it doesn’t really make up for the fact that you lose a quarter of your overall health.[16]
    • Traits:
      • Mutated Genes: +2% Health Regeneration every 5 seconds
      • Rotten: -25% Max Health
      • Absorb: 15% chance to convert incoming damage to health
    • Chance of obtaining: 13.75%

When should you reroll for a new race?

PDF download Download Article
  1. When you start the game, you’ll get 3 rerolls and one single Race slot. At this point, you’re probably better off keeping the Human class to ensure you don’t accidentally get stuck with Undead or Zombie. When you get more rerolls, try your luck again. If you land something fairly decent—especially B tier or higher—stop rolling for now.
    • It’s rare, but you might roll an A or S-tier before you ever open your second Race slot! In that case, use your second slot to roll for a good support option, like Goblin for the purchase discount or Dwarf for mining.
    • Once you reach Level 30, you’ll open a second Race slot. Once you have that, you can use your re-rolls on that second slot without sacrificing the race you’ve been using.
    • You’ll unlock a third Race slot at Level 100, giving you the option to keep a primary and secondary option while rolling on the third slot until you get an S-tier.

Best Races for Combat

  1. Of course, the S-tier races like Archangel, Demon, and Angel are the best for fighting (or anything else in the game)—but they’re hard to pull. But even if you haven’t snagged one yet, there are plenty of other classes that are solid combat fighters thanks to their health buffs, special attacks, or speed:
    • Archangel
    • Demon
    • Angel
    • Dragonborn
    • Golem
    • Felynx
    • Vampire

Best Races for Mining

  1. Boosted luck means you’re more likely to come across rare ores when you’re mining. That makes it easier to craft powerful weapons and armor, and you’ll also earn more when you sell the items you forge. Here are the races we recommend if you’re planning to grind in the mines:
