Meme, brainrot, and slang expert Tobi Nwodo explains the SCP Wish I Knew meme
PDF download Download Article

Hailed by some as the last meme of 2025, SCP Wish I Knew features a head with glowing white eyes singing a dreamy song on a loop. If it seems like an unlikely pick for a horror meme—well, that’s probably part of the joke. We’re taking a deep dive into the Wish I Knew trend, including what it is, how it got started, and the real artist behind the song, with help from meme, brainrot, and slang expert Tobi Nwodo.

Section 1 of 4:

What is SCP Wish I Knew?

  1. The SCP Wish I Knew meme is based off the content creator Zachary Aghaizu, explains Nwodo. In the original TikTok video by @zacharyaghaizu, Nwodo says Aghaizu’s head is floating while a version of “Bad Habits” by Steve Lacy plays in the background.[1] Aghaizu’s face is altered by AI to have glowing white eyes and he sings, “Ooh, ooh, wish I, wish I knew-ooh-ooh-ooh” over an ambient keyboard melody.
    • The original video is pretty chill, but creepy remixes of the clip went viral, and the online community renamed it “SCP Wish I Knew.”
    • Nwodo says SCP Wish I Knew is a type of shock value meme, and one that people “genuinely turn into” as a joke.[2]
    • In a TikTok video breaking down the trend, Nwodo (aka @hyperstrides) explains that it’s an absurdist meme that doesn’t really have a meaning, and it’s been connected to other memes like degloving.
    • Because many of the memes involve someone turning into SCP Wish I Knew, it’s often associated the Khaby Lame Mechanism (a meme where people turn into a robot that looks like TikToker Khaby Lame, like in this TikTok from the Atlanta Hawks).[3]

Where did the “Wish I Knew” meme come from?

PDF download Download Article
  1. The original video was posted on December 6, 2025. TikToker @zacharyaghaizu posted the “OOH WISH I KNEW” video to promote his album So Chopped. Although this video was characteristic of sound and visual style in Aghaizu’s other albums, it went viral, racking up 25 million views in about a month.[4] Soon, users started adding their own variations to the video, and a new meme was born.
    • Nickname SCP Wish I Knew: On December 8, 2025, user @g_73805 reposted the video on TikTok with the slang-overload caption “When I ask for 20 dollars from my HB for 67 times but this time he punches me so I genuinely enter flow state and become SCP: Wish I Knew.”
    • Sped-up sound: On December 12, 2025, a TikTok by user @glepgeraldo featured a sped-up version of the Wish I Knew song.
    • iShowSpeed fear react gif: A TikTok from user @random120292 posted on December 14, 2025, showed the head of SCP Wish I Knew floating down the street next to a gif of streamer iShowSpeed looking terrified. The video is captioned “POV: when you’re walking down the sidewalk when you genuinely see scp wish i knew and you hide behind a tree but it’s no use.”
    • Gloving: The clip of iShowSpeed is often associated with the gloving/degloving trend on TikTok (learn more about that trend in our article What Is Gloving?). Gloving videos also tend to feature slang overload captions, so the two trends became enmeshed, as seen in this TikTok from the Atlanta Hawks with the caption “When you lowkenuinely lose a basketball game so SCP: Wish I Knew degloves your entire bloodline.”
Section 3 of 4:

Is Wish I Knew a real SCP?

PDF download Download Article
  1. To be a real SCP, a story or entity must be posted on one of the SCP Foundation’s wiki pages. SCP Wish I Knew is a nickname for the meme, but it has (so far) not been posted to the SCP site.
    • This is similar to the SCP 67 meme from a little earlier in 2025 that referenced a creepy meme made from the 6–7 Kid. Only in that case, the SCP designation was already given to another story (“The Artist’s Pen”).
    • Fans of SCP stories tend to dislike when memes are given an SCP designation. For instance, a Reddit thread titled “Mfs who’ve never heard of SCP talking sum ‘SCP wish I knew’” features a gif of Squidward with the caption “When SCP is trending again but it’s only another stupid a** brain rot meme.”
