  7. Step 7 Include details instead of sending one-word responses.
    She's more likely to text back if your texts are interesting. Send messages with unique descriptions of your day, your interests, and your hobbies, says Keegan.[8] It'll show her that you're making an effort to really get to know her, which helps you stand out and make you seem more appealing.
    • For example, if she asks you how your day is going, Jbara advises sending something more than just "Good."[9] Keep her interested with a text like, "It's been great! Been marathoning the new season of Euphoria. How about you?"
    • Even if you're not sure what to say, try to avoid replying with something like "K" or "Yep." This might make the girl you like think you're not interested in her.
    • If your conversation has reached its natural end, hold off on responding until you think of a new conversation starter. That way, you can avoid sending a one-word text.
  8. Step 8 Mimic her texting style.
    Mirroring her style might make her feel more comfortable, says Keegan.[10] This doesn't mean you have to copy what she says verbatim, but subtly mimicking her texting style might help her see you as a like-minded person. This can make her excited to get to know you even better.
    • If she takes a few hours to respond to each text, you might try doing the same.
    • If she's comfortable double-texting you, don't be afraid to send a follow-up text, too.
    • If she uses a lot of emojis, go ahead and throw in a few throughout your conversation as well.
  9. Step 9 Ask her to hang out in person.
    Meeting up in person can take your relationship to the next level. If you really like her, you probably want to actually hang out! Ask her out on a fun date so the two of you can get to know each other better and see if you have a connection. Hey there everyone! I’m just going to cut right to the chase: I suck at talking to girls over text. I feel like I’m pretty good at chatting IRL where I can read the other person’s body language and tone, but over text I’ve been told I’m staler than an old breadstick. I’m just not good at texting. I just got the number of a girl I think I’m into but I really don’t want to drop the ball when I hit her up. Give me your best topics, convo starters, or lines!

My biggest tip is to be illogical and fun. I always say that the main purpose of texting initially is just to set up a date or phone call.

What a lot of people do is they try to get to know people through text immediately, which kind of sounds like what you’re doing. That just makes it more difficult for you to really develop a stronger, deeper relationship or connection because a lot of things can get misconstrued over text. You don't understand the person's kind of tone, their jokes are harder to read over text, and it’s too easy to say something that accidentally offends the other person.

So, when you say something like, “Hey, how are you?” and then they say, “Fine” you’ve just sort of killed the conversation. What I'll usually do is say something like, “I just saw a group of kids help the old lady across the street and it reminded me of brighter days!” Just mix it up. Keep her on her toes, be a little random, and use texting as a way to set up a date. Don’t treat texting like a goal on its own!

    Wait to tell her your age until after she gets to know you. Don't bring up age until she does. If she asks how old you are, try to tell her a joke to avoid answering.
