Quick guide to saving FB videos to your computer or smartphone
PDF download Download Article

Yes, it is possible to download Facebook videos to watch offline. You can download almost any video (except for ads or videos from accounts set to "private.") It can be a bit tricky to figure out on your own, but we’re here to help! This wikiHow article will teach you two reliable ways to download Facebook videos to your computer, phone, or tablet. We’ll also explain how to download your own videos.

Download Facebook Videos: Free Options

  • There are many web-based applications that allow you to download almost any Facebook video for free. Google search "Facebook video downloader" to find one.
  • You can also use an app to download Facebook videos on your mobile device.
  • To download your own videos, open the video in the mobile app, tap •••, and select Download video.

Method 1 of 3:

Using an Online Downloader

  1. There are many web-based applications that allow you to download almost any Facebook video. All you need is a video URL.
    • You can use most of these downloaders on your computer, Android, iPhone, or iPad.
  2. 2
Copy the video's address. Go to the video you want to share on Facebook, then tap or click the ••• icon at the bottom of the menu on the right. Select Copy link. The address of the video will be saved to your device’s clipboard.

  3. Go to fdownloader.net (or your download site of choice). If you're using an iPhone or iPad, you may need to use Safari to download the video—other browsers might not work properly.[1] But if you're on a computer or Android, any web browser will do the trick.
    • Some popular options include fdownloader.net, fdown.net, and fload.app.
    • Be careful which websites you use. According to cybersecurity expert Stan Kats, many of these video download websites may contain malicious software downloads and malware. Look up reviews of the site before you use it, and make sure you have a good antivirus program. Don't click on any links or advertisements on the site.[2]
      • Even downloader sites that are generally considered safe may host malicious ads or pop-ups, so use caution.
  4. To paste the URL, right-click (or long-tap on a phone or tablet) the field that says "Enter the Facebook video link here" or similar, and select Paste.
  5. Some downloader sites, like FDownloader, will display the available video quality options.
  6. This starts the download. Once the download is complete, you'll find the video in your "Downloads" folder by default. It's the file ending with ".mp4."
    • On FDownloader, if you select a quality that's much lower or higher than the original video, select Render first, and then Download. Rendering takes a little longer, as FDownloader has do to some extra work in the background.[3]
    • You may have to click or tap Download or Save to start the download.
    • Once the download is complete, you can watch the video by double-clicking (or tapping) it in your Downloads folder.
    • If you're using an iPhone or iPad and want to get the video into the Photos app, tap the blue arrow in the address bar, and then tap Downloads on the menu. Tap the video, tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow), and then select Save Video.

Using a Downloader App

  1. 1
Download a video downloader on your mobile device. If you’re using an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, there are a variety of apps you can use to download Facebook videos. Many of these apps offer both free and premium plans.
    • Some popular free options include Fsave (iPhone/iPad) and Video Downloader - Save Videos (Android).
    • Be aware that many free video downloader apps will make you sit through multiple ads throughout the download process. Others will only allow you to download one or two videos per day unless you purchase the premium version of the app.
  2. 2
Copy the address of the video you want to save. Open the Facebook app on your device and navigate to the video. Tap ••• and select Copy link.
  3. 3
Paste the video link into the downloader app. While the exact setup might vary, most of these apps work the same way. Press and hold the video link field, then select Paste from the popup menu.
  4. 4
Download the video. Tap Save Video, Download, or similar. You might be prompted to preview the video before saving it to your device. You might also need to grant the app permission to save the video to your device’s photo gallery.

Downloading Your Own Videos

  1. 1
Go to your Facebook profile in the mobile app. If you want to download your own videos that you have uploaded to Facebook, you can easily do so from the mobile app. While some users report being able to do this in the desktop website as well, we were not able to access this feature in our tests.
  2. 2
Tap the Reels tab. It's at the top of the page. This displays all of your videos.
  3. 3
Tap the video you want to download. This will open the video and begin playing it.
  4. 4
Tap the icon with three dots •••. It's at the bottom right side of the screen.
  5. 5
Select Download video. This will save the video to your device. A “Downloaded” message will pop up briefly when the process is complete. The video should appear in your device’s photo library.

If you're using a computer, scroll to the video in your news feed, and then click it to open a larger version. In the address bar at the top of the screen, replace the ""www"" with ""mbasic"" – this tells Facebook to display the video in a format you can download. Press Enter or Return to reload the video in its new format. Now, right-click the video and select Open video in a new tab. This may be called Open link in a new tab in some browsers. Finally, right-click - or control click on a mac - the video on the new tab, select Save video as, and then save the video to the desired folder on your computer.
