Everything to know about Post View History & Profile View History
PDF download Download Article

On some social media platforms, you can see who has viewed your stories or videos. TikTok shows how many views your posts have, but does it show who viewed your posts or profile? This wikiHow article explains whether TikTok users can see who viewed their videos and profile, and shows you how to limit who can see your profile and posts.

Can people see who views their TikTok?

If you have fewer than 5000 followers, you can turn on Post View History to see who has viewed your videos in the last 7 days. You can only see views from people who follow you and have also enabled Post View History. Profile View History works similarly, but instead shows you who has viewed your profile.

  1. If you are 16 years or older and have fewer than 5,000 followers, you can turn on Post View History, a feature that allows you to see which of your followers has watched your videos in the past 7 days. You will only see the TikTok names of viewers who have also enabled Post View History.[1]
    • Post View History is not turned on by default. If you don't turn it on, nobody will know when you've watched their TikTok videos, and you won't know when others have watched yours.
    • Regardless of whether you have Post View History enabled, if you like, share, favorite, or comment on a video, the user will be notified.
    • If you are not eligible for Post view history, other TikTok users cannot see if you view their posts.

  1. Much like Post View History, if you are over 16 years old and have fewer than 5,000 followers, you can enable Profile View History, which lets you see who viewed your profile in the past 30 days. If you don't have Profile View History turned on, nobody will know when you look at their profile.[2]
    • Profile View History is not turned on by default. As long as you don't turn it on, nobody will know when you look at their TikTok profile.
    • If you are not eligible for Profile View History, you cannot see who viewed your profile.
    • To learn how to turn Profile View History on or off, jump down to Enabling/Disabling Profile View History.

Preventing People from Viewing Your Posts or Profile

  1. When you set your account to private, you must approve anyone who decides to follow you. Only people who follow you can view your videos. Use the following steps to make your TikTok private:
    • Open the TikTok app and tap Profile in the lower-right corner.
    • Tap the icon with three lines (☰) in the upper-right corner.
    • Tap Settings and privacy.
    • Tap Privacy.
    • Tap the toggle switch next to “Private account."
  2. If you don't want to make your whole TikTok account private, you can change the privacy settings for individual videos you post. By default, when you post a video, everyone can see it. You can limit posts to “Friends’ only” so that only people who follow you can see the video, or “Only me,” which hides your video from everyone except you. When you post a video, you can tap “Everyone can view this post” and change the privacy settings. Alternatively, you can use the following steps to change the privacy settings for videos you’ve already posted:[3]
    • Open the TikTok app and tap Profile in the lower-right corner.
    • Tap a video you want to change the privacy settings for.
    • Tap the icon with three dots (⋮) to the right.
    • Tap Privacy Settings at the bottom (you may need to scroll to the right to see it).
    • Tap Friends or Only you.
    • You can also turn off comments or turn off people’s ability to reuse your video (in duets, stitches, stickers, etc.)
