  1. BTS is a seven-member South Korean boy band. Formed in 2010 by Big Hit (now rebranded to HYBE), BTS is widely considered the biggest boy band in the world. Their name stands for the Korean phrase “Bangtan Sonyeondan (방탄소년단),” which translates to “Bulletproof Boy Scouts,” explains K-pop fandom expert Ashley Salim.[19] As of 2017, it also stands for “Beyond the Scene,” representing youth moving forward. Since their debut, they’ve redefined the music industry, broken countless records, and sold out massive stadium shows… all while uniting diverse audiences and transcending language barriers.
