In Phasmophobia, the Voodoo Doll is one of the cursed possessions that can be used to interact with ghosts.    The Voodoo Doll is one of the cursed possessions that can spawn in a map. It has a 1 in 7 chance of spawning. The Voodoo Doll will force the ghost to do interactions, and it can be useful to find where the ghost's favorite room is or to initiate a hunt.

   • Interacting with the Voodoo Doll will cause a pin to be pushed in at random, which will cause you to lose 5% sanity. If the heart pin is pushed in, you'll lose 10% sanity, and a cursed hunt will begin.
   • If you have 0% sanity and interact with the doll, all the pins will be pushed in, and a cursed hunt will be initiated.
   • The forced interactions won't include ghost writing in the book.

How to Use the Voodoo Doll

   Use the Voodoo Doll to push in a pin at random. Once picking up the Voodoo Doll, using the Use button (right-click on PC, X on PlayStation, or A on Xbox) will allow you to interact with the doll. One of the doll's 10 pins will be pushed in at random when you use it.

   Use the interactions to learn more about the ghost. You can use these interactions to try to ID the ghost, or you can listen for sounds to identify which room is the ghost's favorite room.

   Keep using the Voodoo Doll to initiate a cursed hunt, if desired. If you're trying to lure the ghost out and into a hunt, you can use the Voodoo Doll to do so. Keep pushing the pins in on the Voodoo Doll until the heart pin is pressed, which will start the cursed hunt.

   • Remember that pushing in a pin will cause you to lose 5% sanity, and pushing the heart pin will cause you to lose 10% sanity. If your sanity is at 0%, all the pins will push in, and a cursed hunt will begin.

   Use the Voodoo Doll to force hunts. According to IcyBigPoe on Reddit, the Voodoo Doll is great for high-difficulty runs where you can't find all the evidence. Forcing a hunt will allow you to observe the ghost's hunt behavior, which can help you ID them if you don't have all the evidence. In lower difficulty runs, however, it's not as hard to find all the evidence you need, so it's a bit riskier to use the Voodoo Doll in these games.

   Remove items from a room if you're trying to force specific interactions. If you want the ghost to interact with a specific object (such as the ultraviolet source), remove all other items from the room. This will stop the ghost from interacting with those items instead of the item you want it to interact with.

   Use the Voodoo Doll from a safe location. Since using the Voodoo Doll will cause a pin to be pushed down at random, it's best to stay in a safe location while using it, as you can't be sure which interaction will cause the heart pin to get pushed in, which will start a cursed hunt.

   Using the Voodoo Doll at 0% sanity may lead to an incorrect ghost ID. This is because multiple items can get thrown at the same time when all the pins are pushed in, which might lead players to think they're dealing with a Poltergeist. Ensure you review all the evidence and ghost hunt behavior to confirm you have the correct ghost ID.

   Bring certain items to mitigate the doll's sanity drain and cursed hunts. The Voodoo Doll can easily drain a lot of your stamina, and it's all too easy to accidentally start a cursed hunt when using it. However, there are some items you can bring with you to mitigate these effects:

   • Bringing Incense, tier III Salt, and/or tier III Sanity Medication can help with escaping the ghost and maintaining your sanity.
   • Bringing a tier III Crucifix can stop a cursed hunt when using the Voodoo Doll. Place the Crucifix in the favorite room to help stop the cursed hunt.
