If you use Last.fm, you may have heard of the .fmbot bot for Discord. This bot allows you to track and share information about the music you're listening to with other people in a Discord server, and it's a great way to get social about music. Using .fmbot in Discord

To use .fmbot, add it to a Discord server first. Then, create a Last.fm account if you don't have one and connect it to .fmbot with the .login command. You can then use a variety of commands with .fmbot to see the tracks, albums, and artists you're listening to, and to scrobble those listens to your Last.fm account.

  1. You can access this site by going to fm.bot on your computer's web browser.
  2. It's a blue button near the middle of the webpage, under the large ".fmbot" header.
    • Clicking on this button will launch your Discord app, if it's not already open.

  3. To do this, click on the dropdown under "Add to server" and choose which server you want to add it to. Click Continue to move to the next step.
    • You must have permissions to add bots to servers to add .fmbot to your Discord server. If you don't have this permission, ask the server owner if they would add .fmbot.
    • Confirm that you want to grant .fmbot all of the required permissions. If there's a permission you don't want to grant .fmbot, simply uncheck it. However, note that this might make .fmbot not work properly.
    • Click Authorize to add it to your server.

Connecting Last.fm and .fmbot

  1. Simply go to Last.fm and click Sign Up in the upper-right corner. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign up for an account.
    • You'll also want to connect your Last.fm account to your Spotify, Sonos, Apple Music, Tidal, or other music app account.
  2. If the Discord server has a specific channel for bot commands, make sure to use it.
  3. It's underneath the message that .fmbot sent you after sending the login command.
  4. Click Connect Last.fm account to .fmbot. Discord will warn you that you're leaving the Discord app. Click Visit Site to continue.
    • Make sure to click this button within five minutes, or else the link will expire, and you'll have to start over.
  5. If you're already signed in to Last.fm, you won't have to log in again. Click Yes, allow access to continue.
    • Once you do so, you'll see a new message in your Discord server that says your Last.fm account has been linked with .fmbot.

  1. There are a few commands you can use to customize your .fmbot experience on Discord:
    • .settings allows you to adjust your .fmbot settings. Use the in-app dropdowns to adjust your settings.
    • .fmmode allows you to change how .fmbot works for you when you use the .fm command. Use the in-app dropdowns to change your .fmbot choices.
  2. There are a couple of ways to view your various Last.fm stats:
    • .profile shows you your user profile.
    • .stats shows you user statistics.
    • .lastfm or .lfm shares a link to your Last.fm profile.
  3. There are many ways to view information about albums via .fmbot, but here are a few of the most common:
    • .album or .ab gets information about your current album.
      • To search for an album, write .album [album name] [album artist].
    • .albumplays or .abp shows how many times you've played the current album.
      • To search for an album's play count, write .albumplays [album name] [album artist].
    • .topalbums or .tab shows your top albums of the week.
    • .albumtracks or .abt shows the tracks of your current album.
      • To search for an album, write .albumtracks [album name] [album artist].
  4. Similarly, there are many ways to view information about artists using .fmbot. Here are some of the common commands:
    • .artist or .a gets information about your current artist.
      • To search for an artist, write .artist [artist name].
    • .artistplays or .ap shows how many times you've played the current artist.
      • To search for an artist, write .artistplays [artist name].
    • .artistoverview or .ao shows an overview of the artist you're currently listening to.
      • To search for an artist, write .artistoverview [artist name].
    • .topartists or .ta shows your top artists of the week.
    • .affinity or .aff shows users in the server who have similar music tastes to you, using your all-time top artists and recent top artists.

    • .track or .tr gets information about your current track.
      • To search for a track, write .track [artist name] [track name].
    • .trackplays or .tp shows how many times you've played the current track.
      • To search for a track, write .track [artist name] [track name].
    • .toptracks or .tt shows your top tracks of the week.
    • .scrobble or .sb scrobbles the track you're currently listening to.
  6. You can get a specific music app link for a track you're listening to using the following commands:
    • Genius: .genius or .gen
    • Apple Music: .applemusic, .am, or .apple
    • Spotify: .spotify or .sp
      • You can also use .spotifyalbum or .spab to get a link to the album, or .spotifyartist or .spa to get a link to the artist.
    • YouTube: .youtube or .yt
