Tinder is an online dating service you can use on your computer, mobile phone, or tablet. This wikiHow will show you how to create a Tinder account on your computer or your phone. Once you've created a Tinder account, you'll be ready to start setting up your Tinder profile.

Tinder Sign Up: Quick Steps

Download the Tinder app from the App Store or Play Store.
Log in with your Google or Apple account, or sign up with your phone number.
Verify your account via SMS text message.
Provide your name, birthdate, gender, orientation, and other preferences.
Upload recent photos of yourself when prompted.
Give Tinder access to your location.
Complete the tutorial.

Once you download the app, you'll find it in your app list. Look for the orange and white flame icon.

Select an account creation option. Depending on your phone or tablet, you will be given a few options to create an account.^{[2]

- Continue with Google: This option allows you to create an account using your Google account.
- Continue with Apple: This option is only available on iPhone. This allows you to create an account using your Apple account.
- Continue with Phone Number: Select this option if you don’t want your Tinder account linked to your Google or Apple account.

Log in or create an account.
- If you selected the option to continue with your Google or Apple account, you will be asked to log in with the email address and password associated with your Google or Apple account. Once you sign in, you'll be prompted to set up your Tinder account.
- If you select the option to create an account with a phone number, you will receive a one-time confirmation code via text message. Enter the confirmation code and tap Next to continue. Then, you will be asked to enter your email.
- If you choose to create an account with your Google or Apple account, you will need to enter your phone number. Enter a valid phone number when prompted, tap Next, then wait to receive a one-time confirmation code via text message. When the text arrives, enter the 6-digit confirmation code and tap Next.
- Once you're logged in, review the community guidelines, then tap I agree to continue.
You’ll be asked to enter your name as you want it to appear on your profile. Be sure to double-check this because you can’t change it later. Enter your first name and tap Next, then follow the on-screen instructions to provide your birth date.

Select your gender and tap Next. You can select Woman, Man, or tap More to select a different gender.
- Tap the checkbox at the bottom of the page if you want this information to be on your profile.

Select your sexual orientation. You can select Straight, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Asexual, or Demisexual. Select an option and tap Next.
- Tap the checkbox at the bottom of the page if you want this information to be on your profile.
- You can also tap Skip at the top of the screen to skip this option.
This determines the gender of the people you can match with. You can select Men, Women, or Everyone. Tap Next to continue.
You can select Long-term partner, Long-term open to short, Short-term open to long, Short-term fun, New friends, or Still figuring it out. Tap an option and then tap Next.
This sets how far you are willing to travel for a date, and limits your matches to those within that location. Use the slider bar to set how many miles you are willing to travel for a date and tap Next.

Fill out the questionnaire. Follow the prompts to enter the name of a school you went to (or tap Skip), then you'll be taken to the questionnaire. These questions will help Tinder find better matches for you.
- You’ll need to fill out about four pages of questions about your lifestyle, including questions such as, “How often do you drink?” “Do you smoke?” “Do you work out?” “Do you have pets?”, etc.
- Answer each question. When you are finished, tap Next at the bottom of each page.
- If you want to skip the questionnaire, tap Skip at the top.

Upload some recent pictures. You’ll see a page with 6 blank rectangles. Tap one of the rectangles and select a recent picture of yourself to upload. You can add a minimum of two pictures.

Tinder needs to know your location to serve you matches. When prompted, tap Allow (or similar) to give the app access to your location.
If you want to do the tutorial and learn how to use Tinder, tap Start Tutorial. If you don’t want to take the tutorial, click Skip instead.

Using a Computer

Go to tinder.com and click Create account. If you'd rather sign up for Tinder on a computer, you can do so in any web browser.

Select an account creation option. You can select one of two options:
- Continue with Google: This option allows you to create an account using your Google account.
- Log in with Phone Number: This option allows you to create or sign into your account using your mobile phone number.

- If you select the option to continue with your Google account, you will be asked to log in with the email address and password associated with your Google account.
- If you select the option to create an account with a phone number, you will receive a one-time confirmation code via text message. You will need to enter the confirmation code and click Next to continue. Then, you will be asked to enter your email.
- If you choose to sign up with a Google account, you will still need to enter your phone number. Enter your phone number and click Next. Then you will receive a one-time confirmation code via text message. Enter the 6-digit number and click Next.

Fill out the “Create account” page and click Continue. You will need to enter the following information:
- First name: This is the name that will display on your Tinder profile, and you cannot change it later.
- Email: If you used your Google account, this will already be filled out.
- Birthday
- Profile photo: You’ll see 6 blank squares to the right. Click a square to select a picture of yourself from your computer.
- Gender: Select Man, Woman, or More to choose a different gender. Click the checkbox below this option if you want it to show on your profile.
- Interested In: Choose whether you are interested in Men, Women, or Everyone.
- Look for: Click Add Relationship Intent and then choose from the options Long-term partner, Long-term open to short, Short-term open to long, Short-term fun, New friends, and Still figuring it out.
- Interests: Click Add Interests and then select 3 to 5 options.
- Sexual Orientation: Click Add sexual orientation and then click one of the options. You can click the checkbox to add this to your profile.
Tinder needs access to your location to show you matches. When prompted, click Allow to give the website permission to know your location.
This allows Tinder to send you notifications. If you don’t want to receive notifications, click I’ll miss out instead.

Complete a face check. You’ll need to do a face check to Complete Now to start. Then click Allow while using the site to allow Tinder to access your webcam. Align your face with the oval in the screen and click I’m ready.
- You have the option to click Skip for now. Your profile won’t be visible untii you complete this.
