- Chappell Roan: American singer-songwriter Chappell Roan was born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, and adopted her stage name in honor of her grandfather, who was dying of cancer.[2] Chappell Roan catapulted to fame in 2023 and has since performed at Coachella and received a Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
- Charli xcx: British singer-songwriter Charli xcx was born Charlotte Emma Aitchison and took on the stage name from her MSN Messenger name when she was only 14.[3] Charli xcx is best known for her feature on Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” as well as her rave-inspired studio album Brat.
- Doja Cat: American rapper and singer-songwriter Doja Cat was born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, and adopted her stage name from her pet cat as well as her immersion in weed culture.[4] Doja Cat achieved critical and commercial acclaim since her release of her album Hot Pink and has been nominated for numerous awards.
- V: South Korean singer V (a member of the K-pop group BTS) was born Kim Tae-hyung and adopted V from a lineup of three stage names, which also included Six and Lex because it represents “victory.”[5] V is a member of BTS, the most successful K-pop group in South Korean history, which has achieved global recognition and fame.
- Lady Gaga: American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, and though there are various versions of how she came to have her iconic stage name, Lady Gaga has cited the Queen song “Radio GaGa” as well as her producer Rob Fusari as inspirations.[6] Lady Gaga is one of the best-selling artists of all time, and one of the most influential figures in pop music.
-
Marilyn Monroe: American actress Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson, and her stage name came from combining the first name of Broadway star Marilyn Miller with her own mother’s maiden name.[7]
