You are taking a walk through Hotland when suddenly, you are apprehended by Royal guards. What do you do? And how do you maintain your pacifist route? This guide will show you how to spare them.

Download Article

This will happen after they realize that you are a human.
Use this option on Royal Guard 02, while choosing "Clean armor" as the action. This is your turn.

They will attack you with their usual four pointed stars, but there will also be a green projectile. Make your soul touch this green projectile at least five times.
This will be easier than the other attacks because 02 is weakened, and his attacks will fly off the screen.
After 01 accepts 02 offer to go out to ice cream, you are able to choose mercy and spare the royal guards.

I'm trying to get past them doing what you said, but it's not working. Why? (I'm using the Switch version, FYI.)

This is difficult, and can take a while. Shine their armor. It will make them hot enough to take their armor off. Then they'll go do something else. If that doesn't work, check out YouTube for tutorials.

I made a bad decision by spending all my money on tem flakes and can’t use them for HP, now my bag is full and the guards won’t stop killing me, what do I do?

As you are out of Waterfall, you no longer need the tem flakes. Drop those items. Go back and find some other monsters in Hotland, like Vulkin and Tsunderplane. Spare them to earn more gold. Use this gold to buy items that will be beneficial for your HP, then go to spare the Royal Guards.
