  1. Spytify is a Windows application that can record audio from Spotify. It can mute ads and record an entire playlist. It even adds artists' names, song titles, and artwork to the MP3 files. Use the following steps to download and install Spytify:
  2. The zip file you extracted contains an executable (.exe) file for Spytify. Click the Spytify file to open it.
    • The first time you open Spytify, you may receive a warning that the app is from an unknown publisher. To continue, click More info and then click Run anyway.

  3. To do so, click the Settings tab at the top. Then check the following options.
    • Output Path: This is where your audio files are saved to. By default, they will be saved to your Music folder. To change this, click the folder icon next to the bar and select a new location to save your music.
    • Audio Device: This is the driver you use to listen to audio on your computer. By default, this will be your speakers or headphones.
    • Audio Quality: This allows you to select the quality of your audio recordings. If you have a free Spotify account, it will record at 160kbps, even if you select a higher quality.
    • Minimum length: This allows you to set the minimum length of an audio recording. By default, it is set at 30 seconds.
    • Audio Format: This allows you to select the format for your audio files. You can select MP3 (recommended) or WAV.
    • ID3 API: This allows you to select the ID interface that Spytify will use to identify the audio files. Currently, you can only select LastFM.
    • Language: This allows you to select your language.
    • Mute Ads: Toggling this option on will mute ads if you have a free account.
  4. It’s the button with an eyeball icon in the upper-right corner. This will start recording audio from Spotify.
  5. Switch over to the Spotify desktop app and click on a song or podcast you want to listen to. Then, click the play icon to start playing. Spytify will record it as it plays.
    • You can play an entire playlist or multiple songs back-to-back. Spytify will break each audio file up automatically and identify the artist and song name, as well as assign album art to the files if it is available.
    • You can download the Spotify app for free from the Microsoft Store.
  6. When you are finished recording in Spytify, click the Stop button in the upper-right corner. This will finish the recording. You can find your recorded songs in the location you selected.
