If you want to post pictures on Discord, you can use the drag-and-drop feature or browse your computer's files. Keep in mind that files must be under 25 MB if you don't have a Nitro subscription. This wikiHow will show you how to post images in a Discord chat on a PC or Mac.

Things You Should Know

  • To post an image in Discord on PC, drag and drop the image into the server or DM.
  • Add a spoiler tag, edit the file name, or add alt text. Then press "Enter" to send it.
  • You can also double-click the + icon to browse your computer's files.
  1. Discord is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.[1]
  2. Click a server from the left panel, or click a recent Direct Message to open it.
    • You can start a server or join one.
    • If you're posting an image to a server that isn't yours, you must have permission to upload files. If you don't, you won't be able to upload the image.

  3. This is easiest when the file is nearby, such as in another open window or on your desktop.[2]
    • To manually upload a photo from your files:
      • Double-click the + icon in the chat field.
      • Locate the image you want to send and select it.
      • Click Open.
    • Images must be 25 MB or smaller. If you have Discord Nitro, you'll have a higher upload limit.
  4. If the image has content that others may not want to see or may need a warning, click the eyeball icon in the top-right corner of the image. This will blur the image until the user clicks it.
    • To change the file name, click the pencil icon. Delete the existing file name and enter a new one. Click Save when finished.
    • To add alt text, click the pencil icon. Add a description in the Alt Text field. Click Save when finished.
    • To delete the photo from your draft, click the red trash can icon.
  5. This will send your image to the server or recipient.
