Understand Disney Lorcana's card rarities & pull rates
PDF download Download Article

Do you need an introduction to Disney Lorcana’s rarity levels—and their corresponding symbols? We’re here to help! Disney Lorcana card sets consist of five core rarities, plus three additional “premium” rarities (and, of course, promo cards for special events). Between Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, Epic, Enchanted, and Iconic rarity levels, there’s a lot to keep track of—so, in this article, we’ll show you what each rarity symbol looks like and what a card’s rarity really means. Plus, we’ll take a closer look at the pull rates for all Lorcana booster packs.

Disney Lorcana’s Rarity Symbols

  1. Common Lorcana cards are identified by a grey, circular globe-like symbol. They’re also the easiest to find in booster packs (being, as the name suggests, the most common type of card). While they’re perfectly handy cards to have in a game, collectors don’t consider them highly desirable.[1]
    • Common cards have relatively simple mechanics and abilities, since they serve as the basic building blocks for any Lorcana deck.
    • “Common” is the first of the core rarities in Lorcana; there are five core rarity tiers in total.
  2. Uncommon Lorcana cards have a white symbol that looks like an open book. They’re a little stronger than “Common” cards, and often have strategic benefits when used alongside the Common cards in your deck.[2]

  3. Rare Lorcana cards come with a bronze, triangular symbol. Even though they aren’t the rarest (strongest) Lorcana cards, they’re most definitely worth having—and some Rare-level cards can shape an entire deck! You’ll always find a couple of cards in a Lorcana booster pack that are Rare or better.[3]
    • Despite being labeled “Rare,” these cards aren’t actually all that hard to find (at least compared to higher-rarity cards).
  4. Super Rare cards have a silver (or grey) diamond-shaped symbol. Getting a Super Rare in a booster pack isn’t guaranteed—so it’s a treat when they show up! These cards have more potent effects than previous rarity levels, and a skilled player can build their entire strategy around a great Super Rare in their deck.[4]
  5. Legendary cards have a golden pentagon symbol on them—and they represent the highest core rarity in Lorcana. Legendary cards are some of the most powerful, and they feature all the most iconic Disney characters, from villains to heroes. The more recently released cards also feature characters embossed with an extra layer of gloss and a “Legendary” symbol stamped in gold foil.[5]
    • Older Legendary cards are printed regularly (no extra gloss or gold foil).
    • All Legendary cards since the Fabled set come with the extra gloss and foiling.
  6. The Epic tier is one of three “premium rarities” in Disney Lorcana, and its symbol is fan-shaped with rainbow coloring. Epic-rarity cards consist of cards from across other rarities, printed specially with glossy rainbow foiling to mark them as “Epic”—even though the featured art is the same as the non-Epic version of each card.[6]
    • Basically, Epic cards are visually distinct, but they aren’t more powerful than previous tiers.
  7. The Enchanted-tier symbol is a hexagon with rainbow coloring and a white diamond in the center. Enchanted cards used to be the rarest of the rare in Lorcana (until the introduction of Iconic cards), featuring alternate artwork for characters with a borderless frame. Mechanically, they’re just like the non-Enchanted versions of each card—but their artwork and Enchanted symbol set them apart![7]
    • Newer Enchanted cards also have rainbow foiling for their Rarity symbol, just like Epic cards.
  8. As of the “Fable” set’s release, Iconic cards are now the rarest of the premium-rarity cards. They’re distinct from previous rarities because they feature borderless, full-card artwork, plus a shimmering star-foil pattern and 3D hot stamping. The “Iconic” symbol is a rainbow octagon with a white center.[8]
    • Like the other premium rarities, Iconic cards are rare, alternate versions of cards from the core rarities.
  9. Promo cards are released specially, often for exclusive events. Not all of them have the same symbol, either; all promo cards from The First Chapter set through the Azurite Sea set have a gold “double wedge” symbol, while promo cards since the Archazia’s Island set have a diamond surrounded by a layered circle.[9]
    • Some promo cards don’t have either symbol on them, but rather a stamp that indicates what event they were made for (such as Gen Con or D23).
    • There are also events at Disney parks, Disney Store locations, and even Disney Cruise Line trips that have their own special promo card icons.

Where to Find the Rarity of a Lorcana Card

PDF download Download Article
  1. It’s easy enough to find a card’s rarity once you know what you’re looking for! There’s a frame for the bottom of each card, and you’ll find the card’s rarity symbol right in the center (unless you’re dealing with an Iconic card, in which case there’s no frame—just a symbol).
    • Earlier versions of certain cards (Legendary and Enchanted-tier) don’t have the same foiling and embellishments that their newer iterations do.
    • However, you can still tell their rarity by the symbol itself, regardless of foiling or gloss!
