Joining a Microsoft Teams meeting with a meeting ID is easy. Once the meeting host gives you the ID (and password, if needed) in the calendar or email, you can join the meeting using the Teams app or a web browser. This wikiHow guide will teach you how to join a Teams meeting with a meeting ID on a PC, Mac, Android, iPhone, or iPad.

Join a Teams Meeting with ID

  1. Open the Teams app and click Meet.
  2. Click Join Meeting with ID.
  3. Enter the meeting ID and passcode.
  4. Click Join Now.
  5. Check your camera and microphone, and click Join Now.

Using the Desktop App

  1. If you're using Teams on a Windows PC or Mac, you can open the Teams desktop app to join a meeting.
    • If you don’t have Teams installed on your computer, you can download and install Teams from the Teams download site. You can also download it from the Microsoft Store.
    • Alternatively, you can click the meeting in the Outlook calendar and click the drop-down menu, next to Meet Now in the upper-right corner, then click Join with ID.
  2. It’s the second tab in the menu bar to the left. It has an icon that resembles a camera.

  3. It’s the third button on the right that has a hashtag icon.
    • Alternatively, you can click Join with an ID in the upper-right corner of the Calendar.
  4. Enter the 12-digit meeting ID in the field below “Meeting ID.”
    • You can find the meeting ID in the email about the meeting or by clicking the meeting in your Teams calendar.
    • If you didn’t receive an email or invite, you can ask the host via email or using the Teams chat feature.[1]
  5. If there is a passcode for the meeting, enter it in the field that says “Type a meeting passcode.”
  6. It’s the purple button below the meeting ID field and the passcode field.[2]
  7. If your camera is on, you should see the camera playback in the box on the left side. If it is a black screen, your camera is not on or blocked. Click the toggle switch next ot the camera icon below the window to turn your camera on or off.[3]

  1. To do so, go to teams.live.com/free in a web browser.
  2. It’s the second button on the right side. This displays a field where you can enter a meeting ID and password.
    • If you are logged in with a Microsoft account, click Meet in the menu bar to the left and click the button that says Join with a meeting ID.
    • Alternatively, you can click Join with an ID in the upper-right corner of the Teams Calendar.
  3. Enter the 12-digit meeting iD in the field below “Meeting ID.”
    • You can find the meeting ID in the email about the meeting or by clicking the meeting in your Teams calendar or email.[4]
    • If you didn’t receive an email or an invite, you can ask the host.
  4. If the meeting has a passcode, enter it in the field that says “Type a meeting passcode.”

  1. If you don’t have Teams installed on your phone or tablet, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store on Android, or the App Store on iPhone and iPad.
    • If you’ve never used the Teams app before, you may be prompted to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    • The first time you open the Teams app, you may be prompted to allow the app to use your camera, microphone, and access your contacts. Tap Allow when prompted.

    • If you don’t see this option, tap the Chat or Calendar tab at the bottom of the screen.[5]

  7. If your camera is on, you should see the feed in the playback window. Tap the camera icon to turn your camera on or off. You can also tap the microphone icon to turn your microphone on or off.
    • Additionally, you can tap Change background in the upper-left corner of the video playback window. Then tap a background you want to use
  8. It’s the purple button at the bottom of the screen. This connects you to the meeting.
