The "right" answer or response is to show genuine interest in the leaf. Think of it as if you wanted to talk to your partner about something that interests you, like baseball, or a book you love, or a political topic. You would want them to listen to you, ask questions about it, and support it. By engaging with you on a topic you're clearly fascinated by, they'd be showing that they respect and appreciate you. Instead of showing interest in the leaf itself, the boyfriend tells his girlfriend that she's beautiful (like the leaf). The girlfriend's face drops in "disappointment" (but since it's a parody, her reaction is fake).

No, the leaf test is not a good way to assess your relationship. If your boyfriend isn't very excited or interested when you show him a leaf, there could be several reasons for his lack of reaction. One possibility is that he might know about the leaf trend already and decide to play a joke on you by not doing what you want him to do. Alternatively, he might not like the idea that you're filming his reaction for TikTok, where lots of strangers will judge him. Lastly, he might be tired or distracted, rather than disinterested in whatever you have to say.
