“Kikay” is a Filipino term for girly girl! The trend going around is girls transforming themselves from “bebots” to “kikays”. It means when women dress up in bright colors and bright makeup. They’ll often put on hairclips and even butterfly necklaces!

The “Kikay” trend on TikTok is a celebration of an ultra-girly and playful aesthetic that was popular among Filipina women in the early 2000s. In Tagalog, “Kikay” is a slang term for a girl or woman who is super into beauty and fashion, so the look often features bright colors, lots of accessories, and girly Y2K details like butterfly hair clips.

This trend has exploded on social media alongside the similar Bebot trend, which celebrates an edgier and more glam aesthetic that was also popular in early '00s Filipina fashion. To participate, users transform themselves into a “historically” accurate Kikay or Bebot, showing off their makeup looks and outfits inspired by these aesthetics.
