To get a specific Eeveelution in Pokémon GO, name your Eevee one of these names: Rainer (Vaporeon), Sparky (Jolteon), Pyro (Flareon), Sakura (Espeon), Tamao (Umbreon), Linnea (Leafeon), Rea (Glaceon), or Kira (Sylveon). You can only do this trick once per name!

Get an Eevee that you want to evolve. One very important thing to note is that you can use each of the Eevee names in the Eevee name trick once per account. Because of this, it's recommended to only use this method when you need to get all the Eeveelutions to get to level 42. However, feel free to use this trick whenever—especially if you have a very high-level Eevee or a shiny that you want to evolve!
- Since you can't change the nickname of a Pokémon that was traded to you, you can only do this trick with Eevees you've personally caught.

Change the Eevee's name. To do this, tap on the pencil icon next to the Eevee's name (which is likely "Eevee," if you haven't given it a name before). Depending on the Eeveelution you want, you must change the Eevee's name to one of the following:^{[1]

Can I only use the name trick once? Yes, generally speaking, you can only use the Eevee name trick once per name, per account. However, some users have found they were able to reuse the names to get more Eeveelutions many years after they'd already used the name before. However, this isn't guaranteed, so even if you used the Eevee name trick a long time ago, you might not be able to use it now.
