PDF download Download Article

The Easter Bunny is cute and iconic, and he’s the perfect choice for fun Easter crafts. In this article, we’ll walk you through three different ways to draw the Easter bunny—a simple, kawaii bunny holding an egg, a more detailed cartoon bunny with a basket, and a realistic bunny that’s perfect for Easter. With these step-by-step instructions, you’ll be able to draw the Easter Bunny in no time!

The next Easter is Sunday, March 28, 2027.

How do you draw the Easter Bunny?

  1. Start with a small curve for the top of the head.
  2. Add two big U-shaped ears.
  3. Make a dumpling shape for the head, but leave the chin open.
  4. Fill in the eyes, nose, and mouth.
  5. Add the top of an egg coming in front of the chin.
  6. Make two teardrop-shaped arms in front of the egg.
  7. Draw two diagonally-tilted ovals for feet.
  8. Fill in the rest of the egg.
  9. Add the bunny’s body and tail.

  1. 1
Make a small curve for the top center of the head. Don’t draw the whole head yet. Just make a short downward curve where you want the top of the head to go.[1]
    • The ears will go on either side of this curve, so don’t make it too wide, but you don’t want it to be super narrow, either.
  2. 2
Add two curves to make the ears. Draw two tall, thin U shapes for the ears. Make them a little narrower where they connect to the head and a little wider at the ends.[2] You can also add a slight point to the ends of the ears, if you want.[3]
    • Draw a second U shape inside the ear, just inside the outline of the first U shape. This will be the inside of the ear.

  3. 3
Draw a dumpling shape for the rest of the head. Coming down from the sides of the ears, make an oval that’s fuller at the bottom than at the top. Leave an open space under the bottom of the bunny’s chin.[4]
    • For extra-full cheeks, angle the oval slightly outward at the bottom half of the face.[5]
  4. 4
Make an oval or rounded triangle shape for the nose. It’s fine to make your bunny’s nose a simple horizontal oval, if you’d like. Or, you can make it look like an upside-down triangle, with a curved top and a rounded point at the bottom.[6]
    • Add two U shapes coming down from the nose to make the mouth.[7]
  5. 5
Draw big circle-shaped eyes on either side of the nose. For a cute cartoony look, draw the eyes so they start slightly higher than the nose and mouth. You can even make the bottom of the eyes come down so they’re even with the mouth.[8]
    • You can also make the bottoms of your bunny’s eyes flat if you like that look better.[9]
    • If you want to, you can add little eyelashes, eyebrows, or whiskers to your bunny’s face.
  6. 6
Add the top of an egg shape coming up in front of the chin. Make a curved shape that narrows slightly at the top. Place it so the top of the curve is right in front of the bunny’s chin. This will be the Easter egg.[10]
    • If you need to, bring the lines of the head all the way down to connect with the sides of the egg.
    • Don’t draw the whole egg yet—just the top.
  7. 7
Draw the bunny’s arms and paws in front of the egg. Start by drawing two short, curved shoulders on either side of the egg. Then, add teardrop-shaped paws coming out in front of where the egg will be.[11]
    • Add 2 tiny curves at the end of each arm for paw lines.[12]
    • To make the drawing even easier, you can just use circles for the paws.[13]
  8. 8
Add two tilted-out ovals for the feet. Go down to where you want the bottom of the drawing to be, and draw two large ovals tilted diagonally outwards. These are the bunny’s feet. Make the ovals a little narrower at the bottom, near the heel, and a little wider at the top, where the toes will be.[14]
    • Draw in three small oval toe beans and one larger oval for the foot pad.[15]
    • For an extra-cute touch, draw a heart for the larger foot pad instead of an oval.[16]
  9. 9
Finish the sides and bottom of the egg. Draw the lines of the egg around the arms and feet. Try to make the shape wider at the bottom than it is at the top, like a real egg.[17]
    • Add cute details on the egg, like curved stripes, polka-dots, or hearts.[18]
  10. 10
Connect the bunny’s body and add a tail. Add a small curve on the outside of the egg, running from the bunny’s arms to its legs. This will be the bunny’s sides.[19]
    • Then, add a fluffy tail by making several looping curves on one side of the bunny’s body, near its feet.
  11. 11
Color the Easter Bunny and add details. Use pink to fill in the center of the bunny’s ears, its foot pads, and its nose. You can also add a little pink blush to the bunny’s cheeks, if you’d like. Leave the bunny’s fur white or color it pink, beige, or grey.[20]
    • Decorate the Easter egg with fun, bright colors!
    • If you want, add grass and flowers beneath the bunny’s feet.

Drawing a Detailed Cartoon Easter Bunny with Basket

  1. This will be the bunny’s head. Start this sketch in pencil, since there will be overlapping lines you’ll need to erase.
    • Use a light touch with the pencil to make it easier to erase later.[21]
  2. Draw two thin ovals on top of the bunny’s head, overlapping the head a little and angled slightly outward. At the end of each of those ovals, add another thin, vertical oval that overlaps the first.
    • The first set of ovals makes the base of the bunny’s ears, and the second set are the floppy tips of the ears.
    • Make the first set of ovals thinner where they meet the bunny’s head.[23]
  3. Draw two, long teardrop shapes for the arms. They should be narrower at the shoulders and wider at the paws, with a slight bend for the elbows.
  4. Place a big horizontal oval over both of the bunny’s arms. This will be his Easter basket.
    • If you’d like, flatten the bottom of the basket slightly to make it look more realistic.
  5. Under the basket sketch, draw a horizontal oval. Have it come from the left and right sides of the basket—you don’t have to draw the top, since you’d only erase that line anyway.
  6. Under the semicircle you just drew for the lower body, sketch two ovals, angled diagonally outward. You don’t have to complete the oval where it crosses the body.
  7. 8
Add details and outline the bunny. Erase any sketch lines where one part crosses another, like where the head crosses the cheeks, the overlapping lines for the ears, or where the basket lines cross the arms. Draw in the bunny’s big, round eyes, rounded triangle nose, and two U shapes for the mouth. Then, add any additional details you want, like tufts of fur on the head and chest, a fluffy tail, or eyelashes, eyebrows, and whiskers.[24]
    • Add criss-crossing lines to the basket and fill in the top of the basket with oval-shaped eggs. You can also add a basket handle going through the bunny’s paws, if you’d like.[25]
    • Add two lines to each of the paws and feet.
    • When you’re finished, go over all of the outlines with a marker or colored pencil.
  8. Add pink to the nose and the insides of the ears, and choose bright colors for the Easter eggs. Use brown for the basket.
    • If you’d like, you can leave the bunny white, or you can color it pale pink, brown, or grey if you’d prefer.

Drawing a Realistic Bunny for Easter

  1. Draw a big oval in the top middle of the page. Make the oval slightly straighter on the sides and rounder on the top and bottom. This will be the bunny’s head.
  2. On top of each side of the oval, draw two long, thin ovals. Make them a little narrower at the ends than in the middle.
    • Overlap the ovals with the head slightly. You can erase the extra lines now or at the end.
    • You can make your ears point up or down, whichever you prefer.[26]
  3. Draw a big, horizontal oval that’s a little flatter on the bottom than the top. Have it overlap the right part of the head and right ear.
    • Bunnies have long, plump bodies, so make the oval full and wide.
  4. Under the lower part of the body, draw a flat, shallow oval. Then, add a semicircle, facing down, inside the right part of the body oval.[27] The semicircle is the bunny’s curved back leg, and the shallow oval is its back foot.
  5. Make a small oval overlapping the back of the bunny. You can add fluffy tufts to the tail when you fill in the details of your drawing.
  6. Under the left side of the body, in front of the back paws, draw two sets of overlapping ovals. Make the first ovals vertical, coming down from the body. The second ovals should be horizontal, coming out from the vertical ovals.
  7. Fill in the details of the bunny’s face: a round eye that’s flat or concave on the bottom, a Y-shaped nose, and little jagged lines for fur tufts around the nose and eyes. Add little tufts of fur anywhere else you want them on the bunny’s body, like its back, legs, ears, and tail.[28]
    • If you want, you can add an Easter basket beside the bunny. Sketch a flat oval, then add crisscrossing lines and a few Easter eggs inside it.
  8. Since you’re drawing a realistic bunny, use varying shades of the same natural color for its fur. For instance, you might fill in the whole body with a light beige, then add shading with tan and light brown shades.
    • You could also make your bunny white, cream, gray, or black.[29]
    • Use bright colors for the Easter eggs, and brown or tan for the basket.
    • If you’d like, fill in some grass around the bunny’s feet.

To draw a simple cute bunny, go on to the internet and find a picture of a bunny you would like to use, and then print it out. Next, get a plain piece of paper and put the printed sheet underneath. Place the sheets on a window and start tracing. You can then draw the outfit if you like and some personal touches or leave it like that.
