This wikiHow teaches you how to set your Messenger to ignore all the messages from a selected contact. Ignoring a user will remove the conversation thread from your inbox, and block all message notifications from them in the future. Ignored users can still send you messages, but they won't show up in your inbox.

  1. The Messenger icon looks like a blue speech balloon with a white thunderbolt in it. You can find it on your home screen or your Apps menu.
    • If you aren't already logged in to Messenger, enter your email address or phone number, and password before continuing.
  2. Scroll down your messages, and tap the contact you want to delete from your mailbox. This will open your conversation thread with the selected contact.

  3. Your contact's name is listed at the top of the conversation. Tapping will open your user options on a new page.
    • If you're using Android, you will have to tap the "i" icon next to your contact's name on the top-right. It will open the same menu.
  4. You can find this option towards the bottom of the user options menu. This will remove the selected contact from your inbox, and ignore all their messages in the future.
    • This will not block, remove or unfriend your contact on Facebook.
    • You will be asked to confirm your action in a new pop-up.
  5. This will confirm your action, remove the conversation from your inbox, and block all message notifications from this user.
    • On Android, the confirmation button will just say IGNORE.
    • The conversation will move to your Message Requests.
    • Your contact's messages will not show up in your inbox anymore.
