  1. This is technically two cards, but since you have to play them together, we’re counting them as one. Card #111 shows Ho-Oh’s head and the tops of its wings, which appear to be made of multi-colored flames and energy. Card #112 shows the bottom of Ho-Oh’s body and its fearsome talons, along with the special moves for this card set. And did we mention that the art is breathtaking?[1]

But the gargoyle-like dragon and curling branches in the background, combined with Ceruledge’s steely stare, make it feel more like a beautiful nightmare.[5]
    • Rarity: Illustration Rare

The bold, graphical design uses only blues and a soft yellow, but it gives the impression of a stoic Iron Crown standing on a mountain peak while clouds roll across the moon. Pokémon Collecting Tips

  1. If there’s a card you really want, Pokémon collectibles expert Emchompite says it may be better to look for it individually instead of buying packs. “Opening Pokémon cards is a gamble. I would highly recommend buying the card that you’re looking for outright, because you’ll probably spend more money on packs trying to pull it yourself.”[24]
  2. Emchompite advises, “If you collect what you love, then you’re always going to be happy.”[27] Don’t worry about which cards are the most valuable; try to get cards that make you feel excited about the hobby.
  3. “If you have a card that looks really good and/or you’re sentimental about it, [have] it preserved in plastic and authenticated,” says Emchompite. Popular grading services include PSA, CGC, and Beckett.[29]
