If you're moving to a new country and want to update your Steam region, it's easy! You'll just need to add and use a new payment method from that region, and Steam will take care of the rest. Currently, there is no way to change it through your settings, so make sure you have a valid payment method from the country you want to switch to. Here's what to know about changing your Steam region on your Windows or Mac computer.

Updating Your Steam Store Region

To change your region on Steam, click your profile > Account Details to add a new payment method from that region. Purchase any game or content from the Steam store. Your region will be updated automatically to reflect the payment method's region.

Launch Steam. The only way to change your region on Steam is to make a purchase using a payment method from the new region. This is different from changing your download region, which is the region used to download your games and updates. If you're using the wrong download region, your downloads may be slower than they should be.^{[1]

- You can only update your Steam region once every three months.
Your profile name will be in the top-right corner, and you'll see "Account Details" in the drop-down menu. A new page will open.

Add a new payment method. If you have an existing payment method, you'll click Update the payment method linked to this account. If you don't have a payment method linked, you'll click Add a payment method to this account.
- Enter the billing information, such as the card number, expiration date, and address. Then, click Continue to add it to your account.
- Make sure the new payment method is from the country you want to change to.

Purchase a game or content from the Steam store. Click the Store tab to browse the trending games, or visit your wishlist. You can purchase any game or content (including trading cards). When you see something you want to buy, add it to your cart, and then check out.
- Make sure to use the new payment method for the content.
- When the purchase is completed, Steam will automatically switch the region to the one matching your payment method.

How do I see my current Steam store country? To see what your current Steam store country is, open Steam, click your profile name in the top-right corner, and then select Account Details. You'll see your store country in the bottom-right corner.
