Do they get to Earth in Battlestar Galactica? 🚨 SPOILER ALERT 🚨 ...Last chance!! ...Okay, if you’re down for spoilers, then yes, the crew of the Galactica does successfully reach Earth multiple times in the series. However, the first time they reach Earth, they realize that Earth isn’t prepared to take on Cylons, so they leave the planet. The second time they reach Earth, they find it to be uninhabitable due to years of destruction and war. However, in the final episode of the 2004 series, the crew finds another planet, which is intended to be a prehistoric version of our Earth, and names it Earth.^{[18]

Is Battlestar Galactica based on the Mormon church? Sort of—the original series (which came out in 1978) was influenced by Mormon beliefs, as the series creator (Glen A. Larson) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For instance, the planet Kobol is named after Kolob, which is the heavenly body closest to God’s throne in Mormon scripture. In another parallel, the show’s Council of Twelve mirrors the “Quorum of the Twelve Apostles” in the LDS Church. However, while this basic framework remained in place in the later versions of the series, the overall series doesn’t largely reflect Mormonism.^{[19]
