The Best Movie Villains

A good villain is sometimes better than a good hero. They’re campy, devious, dastardly, and a whole lot of fun to watch. And what’s a hero without a villain, anyway? There have definitely been some iconic villains over the years, and we’re here to look into the best of them.

What makes a good villain?
Great question, and there are lots of different answers! Sometimes a good villain is one that’s really, truly frightening, so frightening that we feel just as spooked as the characters in the story must feel. Other times, a villain is someone really lovable, whether that means you just can’t help but smile at their antics, or if they’re just plain fun to watch. Other times, a good villain is complex. They don’t just do evil because they want to, but because they’re a good or just regular person who got the wrong idea or was pressured to do bad things by the world around them. People tend to like this kind of villain since they’re sympathetic and nuanced, and often feel more “real.”

Who are the best movie villains?
