Meet the Characters of KotLC

Sophie Elizabeth Foster
Sophie is the main protagonist of the series. She’s a super-talented prodigy who can read minds and, later, is capable of much more. As a 12-year-old, it’s revealed that she’s actually an elf, and relocated to the Lost Cities, where elves live alongside other beings like trolls and gnomes. Now, she’s on a mission to master her abilities and set things right in the Lost Cities with the help of the Black Swans, a rebel group working toward justice.

Keefe Sencen
Keefe is a cheerful prankster, and a member of the Black Swan. He’s an empath and a polyglot, and one of Sophie’s closest friends, as well as the official jokester of the cast. Though he’s the child of nobility, he sees his friend Fitz Vacker’s family as his true family. Eventually, he reveals that his joking nature is how he’s learned to survive.

Fitzroy Vacker
Fitz is a gifted student, and a son of the respected Vacker family, as well as a member of the Black Swan. He’s hard-working, determined, and dignified, and also Sophie’s primary love interest. Like Sophie, Fitz is a telepath, or someone who can read thoughts.

Biana Vacker
Biana is Fitz’s younger sister, and a talented vanisher—someone with the ability to cloak herself or others with invisibility. She starts out as Sophie’s rival, and only got close to her because of her mom, but soon becomes Sophie’s real best friend.

Dexter Dizznee
Dex is a powerful technopath, someone who can manipulate and understand all forms of technology. He’s a bit of a loose cannon, and not very predictable, but his friendly nature and trusty abilities make him an essential part of the Black Swan.

Tam Dai and Linh Hai Song
Tam and Linh are twins, and members of the Black Swan. Tam is a secretive, elusive, rebellious shade—someone who can control shadows and darkness. His sister Linh is hydrokinetic, or someone who can manipulate water. Their parents were ashamed of having twins, but both siblings rise above and forge their own paths.

Wylie Endal
Wylie is a flasher, or someone that can manipulate light. He’s an orphan with a mysterious and troubled past, and while it threatens to get the better of him, he never lets it stand in the way of helping his friends.

Maruco Chebota
Maruca is a psionipath, or someone who can create force fields and energy beams. She’s bold, direct, and brutally honest, but a trusty ally to Sophie and the gang, joining up with the Black Swan despite some members’ wariness of her powerful abilities and volatile personality.
