Everything We Know About the HBO Harry Potter Series

HBO’s Harry Potter adaptation will be a TV series where each season of the TV show adapts one book from the original series. According to the show’s creators, this will allow for more details to be included from the books that weren’t able to be included in the original movies.

The first season, which will cover the events of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is expected to be released in 2027. However, as of December 2025, there is no official release date. HBO expects the series to be produced and released over the course of a decade.

The HBO Harry Potter series will also feature an (almost) entirely new cast. While the entire cast list is not available, here’s who we know will be appearing as of December 2025:
