- Open the fuel shutoff valve on the motor if your Toro snowblower has one.
- Insert the ignition key into the slot on the motor.
- Firmly press the motor's primer button 2 times if it's above 15° F or 4 times if it's below 15° F.
- Move the choke switch to the On position.
- Set the throttle switch to Fast.
- Plug the extension cord into the snowblower's port if it's an electric-start model.
- Press and hold the electric starter button, or pull the recoil cord to start your snowblower.
- Move the choke to the Run position.
If your Toro snowblower still doesn't start, try these troubleshooting tips:
- A gas smell signals the motor is over-primed and flooded. Shut off the choke, close the fuel shutoff valve, pull the recoil cord 3 times, and let the snowblower sit for 15 minutes before trying again.
- Only hold the electric starter button for 5 seconds at a time. Wait 10 seconds between attempts, and only try 10 times to avoid burning out the starter.
- Only close the choke switch 1/2 or 3/4 of the way if temperatures are over 30° F.
