Are you wondering where the "Add or Remove Programs" feature went in Windows 11? Thankfully, the feature is still there, but it's been renamed to "Installed Apps." In this article, we'll cover the name switch, as well as how to add and remove programs on your Windows 11 computer. Read on to learn more.
Add or Remove Programs in Windows 11
In Windows 11, "Add or Remove Programs" was renamed to "Installed Apps." Installed Apps is used to remove programs on your computer, as it works exactly like the old "Add or Remove Programs" feature did. To add programs to your computer, download them from the Internet or use the Microsoft Store.
Steps
How to Remove Programs
-
Right-click the Windows icon in the taskbar. This will open the Power User menu.
-
Click Installed apps. It's at the top of the Power User menu.
- Alternatively, you can use the taskbar search bar to search for "installed apps" or "add or remove programs" to open the Installed Apps window.
- If you're on Windows 10, this option will be called "Apps & features."
-
Find the program you want to uninstall. By default, the Installed Apps list is sorted alphabetically. You can use the filters at the top of the list to filter your apps by a different metric (such as size), or you can use the search bar to type in the name of the program you want to remove. You can also simply scroll until you find the correct app.
-
Click the three-dot icon next to the program's name. It's on the far right side of the bar that has the program's name in it.
-
Click Uninstall. This will prompt your computer to begin the uninstallation process. You may receive a pop-up asking you to confirm that you want to uninstall the program, or your computer may open a full uninstallation wizard created by the app's developers. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
-
Restart your PC if prompted. If you receive a pop-up asking you to restart your computer to complete the uninstallation process, do so now. Save any open documents before restarting your computer to avoid data loss.[3]
- Some apps require you to restart your computer after uninstallation to complete the process, but not every app needs this.
