What are the signs that a guy is interested in you?

I’m not sure. I took the quiz, and it said: “He’s definitely the into you!” Or so along those lines. But, there were some inconsistencies. So I want to hear from someone if he is really into me and if I should go for it.
We have been friends since we were very young. Which is a while. Probably long enough to form or even have a crush. We talk almost all day every day, and it never gets old or boring, we also call all the time. At school, we sit next to each other and talk to each other almost all the time since almost all our classes are together. At first, I thought he only saw me as a friend, I saw him as a friend too. But soon enough he started wanting to go see movies, hangout at his or my house, or just whatever he could to hang out with me, then at school he would always somehow tease me playfully, either by childhood nicknames or by poking or playing footsies, or just physical contact whoever he could. I always saw it as a friendly or best friend thing, or I’m just oblivious, but everyone I knew told me that he likes me and that we should date. I’m unsure. Because he tells me a lot that every friend that’s a girl he has always gets shipped with him, so it feels to me that he’s used to this and maybe doesn’t feel the same? Or he’s trying to play hard to get or even try to stay calm and act like he doesn’t care when he does? I’m just overthinking. But the more I think about it, I feel like I want to date him. He is really sweet and funny, a good mix. He always is up to help me and asks me how I’m doing constantly, and he seems to act calm or even a little happy when people ship us. I’m just unsure because I’m too afraid he won’t like me or that it will just get awkward. But, you never know till you try, right?
I really hope someone can give me advice, and possibly how to approach him with trying to tell him I like him, or try to give him signs, without giving it entirely away, just in case he doesn’t actually feel the same. Apologies if this is too long, I just had to get this off my chest. Thank you for your time!
