In fact, avoid making moves early on. A close guy friend of mine liked me. I knew this, all my girl-friends knew. Not because someone snitched, its because he made it obvious. He wasn't flirting, but there were some pretty obvious tells. I tried to be polite but it made me feel awkward knowing what was probably going through his head.
My advice would be, the best thing for you to do, is be a great friend, and avoid being awkward or transparent. Because if she doesn't like you back, and tells you, chances are that means she knew already. And she felt the need to say or insinuate that she doesn't feel the same.
BE CAREFUL, do not misunderstand this advice. Not being transparent doesn't mean being completely 'nonchalant' or uncaring. It means don't get outwardly flustered or make a situation awkward or uncomfortable because of how you feel. Others can sense the awkwardness. Be confident, act as you always would. Make it a goal to become a good, trustworthy and playful but kind friend. If she does like you back, now or at some point in the future, she will find this attractive. Feeling close and safe with a good friend means she will be more likely to open up. But don't forget that at some point you will need to decide weather or not to make a move.
playing it safe means you will never progress. Make progress, but naturally.
