    You will not be able to update it on Vista or older. But there is a way! Go to any other computer that has Windows 7 or higher and download it (you should get a file named "ChromeSetup.exe"). Get that file to the computer with Vista (USB stick or any other way). Run it on the Vista system and it should work. I installed it on XP using this method.

    Restart your computer. Go to chrome.google.com. Download the installer (you should get a file named "ChromeSetup.exe). Uninstall chrome. When the uninstall is done, run the file ChromeSetup.exe that your downloaded. That should do the trick.
