This wikiHow teaches you how to install the TablePress plugin on your WordPress dashboard, and create a new data table to add to your website, using a computer.

   Open your WordPress admin dashboard in your internet browser. Enter your website's root address into the address bar, add wp-admin at the end of the link, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.

   • Your dashboard address should look like example.com/wp-admin.

   Sign into your admin dashboard. Enter your WordPress username and password, and click the blue Log In button. This will sign you in, and open the dashboard in your browser.

   Click the Plugins tab on the left sidebar. You can find this option below Appearance on the navigation menu on your screen's left-hand side.

   Click the Add New button. You can find it next to the Plugins heading at the top of the page.

   Search TablePress in the plugin library. Type "TablePress" into the search bar at the top of the plugin list, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return to see a list of matching results.

   Click the Install Now button next to the TablePress plugin. Find TablePress in the search results, and click this button to install it. This will automatically install the selected plugin.

   • After you activate the plugin, you'll find a new menu item labeled TablePress on the left sidebar.
   • TablePress is a popular, free plugin that makes it easy to add tables in WordPress.

   Click TablePress on the left sidebar. This will open your TablePress options, and a list of all your saved tables.

   Click the Add New tab at the top. You can find this button next to the TablePress heading at the top of the page. This will allow you to setup and create your new table.

   Enter your new table's basic specifications. You'll have to enter a Table Name here, as well as the number of total rows and columns you want in your table.

   • Optionally, you can also add a table description on this page.

    Click the Add Table button. This is a blue button at the bottom of the new table form. It will allow you to access the full table editor on the next page.

    Fill out your table's rows and columns under "Table Content." Click a cell on your table here, and enter the data you want to display.

    Customize your table options and settings. You can combine or hide cells under Table Manipulation, customize your table's appearance under Table Options, and change your JavaScript settings in the bottom section.

    • This is an optional step. If you don't want to change any of these options, you can just save your table.

    Click the Save Changes button. This is a blue button at the bottom of the page. It will save all the data and changes to your new table.

    Find and copy your new table's shortcode. You can find the table shortcode next to the Table Information heading in the upper-right corner of the page.

    • Select the shortcode with your mouse.
    • Right-click on the selected text.
    • Click Copy.

    Paste the table shortcode into a post in the editor. You can create a new post on your website or edit an existing post. Just paste the shortcode, and a full table will be displayed when you view the post on the website.

    • Right-click your post's body in the editor.
    • Click Paste.

  If you plan to insert a simple table into WordPress, you can use the Table Block in the block editor (also called the Gutenberg editor), but it won't look like one of the fancy tables you can create using presentation software tools. If you want more complex tables than what TablePress allows you to make, you can use a premium plugin, like WPDataTables. Another option is to create the table using a free online HTML editor (e.g. https://html-online.com/editor), then copy all of the HTML code and paste it into your WordPress editor's Text file.
