Would you like to embed a YouTube video on your website or blog? While it's not possible to generate an embed code using the mobile app, you can easily get it using any desktop web browser on your PC, Mac, or Chromebook. Here's how to get the embed code from a YouTube video or playlist.

Embedding a Video from YouTube

Open the YouTube website on a desktop browser and navigate to a video or playlist. Click Share underneath the video and select Embed. Copy the entire HTML code for your website.

  1. Go to https://youtube.com in a browser on your computer. You can get the embed code from a video or playlist on YouTube using any web browser.
  2. You can browse through recommendations or search for a specific video by typing in the search bar at the top of the page.
    • If you're sharing a playlist, click Playlists in the left panel to find your saved playlists. Then, click View full playlist.
    • Videos and Playlists must be set to Public or Unlisted to share.

  3. This is at the bottom of the video, next to the right-facing arrow.
    • On Playlists, you'll see this to the right of the playlist title.
  4. This "<>" icon is usually first in the menu. A code will appear.[1]
  5. Before you embed the video, you can change the options, such as starting time, player control visibility, and privacy-enhanced mode.
    • To change the start time of a video, click Start at and enter a starting timestamp.
    • To enable player controls (video playback and volume), check the box for Show player controls.
    • To turn on privacy-enhanced mode, check the box for Enable privacy-enhanced mode. This prevents YouTube from storing visitor information unless they play the video.
  6. This is at the bottom-right corner of the embed window.
    • The embed code will be saved to your device's clipboard. You can now paste the code in your HTML code or website.
