Triggering the Space Center Event

  1. Mossdeep City is on an island along the eastern edge of Hoenn, near Shoal Cave, on Route 125.
  2. If you haven't defeated Gym Leaders Tate and Liza of Mossdeep City, you must do so before continuing.[1]
    • Tate and Liza use Psychic Pokémon, so make sure to use Pokémon that are great against Psychic-type Pokémon.
    • The best option to defeat the double gym leader is to use Absol. You can find this wild Pokémon on Route 120, though you only have a 7-10% chance of finding one. Absol learns Bite at level 28, which is very effective against the Psychic-type Pokémon Tate and Liza use.
    • Another Pokémon to use in this fight would be a Dark Pokémon such as Mightyena; this Pokémon can be found on the route west of Lilycove City.
    • After beating the Gym Leaders, you will obtain a badge, and this will trigger an event in the Space Center.

  1. Team Magma has sent a letter to the Space Center informing them that they will be stealing their rocket fuel. By the time you earn the Mind Badge at Mossdeep Gym, Team Magma will attack the center—it's your job to stop them.
  2. These fights should be pretty easy, especially after beating Tate and Liza.
  3. On the second floor of the Space Center, you meet Steven Stone and will pair up to double battle against Maxie and Tabitha.
    • Tabitha has a level 36 Camerupt, a level 38 Mightyena, and a level 40 Golbat. Maxie has a level 42 Mightyena, a level 43 Crobat, and a level 44 Camerupt.[2]
