For playing metal music, I would recommend an Ernie Ball Music Man guitar. They have a Sterling line, which is cheaper. Simply go on YouTube and watch a few of your favorite guitar players, see what type of guitar they play, and then do a little bit of research and look at the different tiers of products that you could get that would match that type of instrument you like. At the end of the day, you're going to be able to get great results with pretty much any type of guitar.

The four pillars of metal guitar: Ibanez, Jackson, ESP/LTD and Schecter. Take your pick with any one of these brands and you should be good to go
