Have you forgotten what your Apple Account (formerly Apple ID) name is? If so, it's thankfully pretty easy to find it as long as you're logged into your account on your Apple device or on iCloud's website. In this article, we'll teach you how to find your Apple Account name on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and PC, as well as what you can do in case you've truly forgotten your Apple Account name.
Steps
On an iPhone or iPad
-
Open Settings. This is the gray gear icon located on your home screen.
-
Tap your name. It's the first option in the menu next to your profile picture. If you don't have a profile picture, the bubble will have your initials instead.
- If you aren't signed in, you'll see a prompt to sign in instead. If you don't have an Apple Account (formerly known as an Apple ID), you'll be prompted to create one.

Tap Sign-In & Security. Your Apple Account should be displayed at the top of the Apple Account menu (the menu that opens when you tap on your name in the Settings menu). However, if you don't see your Apple Account listed or you want to be sure you're seeing the right Apple Account name, you can opt to go into Sign-In & Security.[1]
On a Mac
-
1Click the Apple menu icon and select System Settings…. This will open your computer's settings menu. The Apple icon is in the upper-left corner of the screen.
-
2Click on your name at the top of the side panel. It will say Apple Account below your name.
-
3Check your Apple Account name. Your Apple Account will be listed at the top of the screen, below your name and profile picture (if you have one).[2]
On a PC
-
Open iCloud for Windows. You most likely installed iCloud for Windows to sync your Apple device (like an iPhone or iPad) to your computer.[3]
- If you don't have iCloud for Windows, you can open iTunes instead.
-
Look for your Apple Account name. As long as you're signed in, your Apple Account will be listed under your name in iCloud for Windows. If you're using iTunes, click the Account menu, and you will see your Apple Account below your name at the top.
Other Ways to Find Your Apple ID
-
Check if you're signed into the App Store, FaceTime, or Messages. If you're signed in, your Apple Account should be available for you to find within those apps.
-
Check icloud.com or appleid.apple.com to see if your Apple Account auto-fills. In a web browser, you can go to these sites and see if you're automatically logged in or if your information auto-fills when you try to log in.
-
Check your emails from Apple. The communications from Apple may include your Apple Account, but if the address is masked (d***@icloud.com), the number of asterisks may not match the number of characters in the email address.[4]
If You Still Can't Find Your Apple ID
-
Go to Apple's Apple Account recovery site in a web browser. You can access the site at iforgot.apple.com. Use this if you have forgotten your Apple Account but think you might have one (like you had an iPhone years ago before switching to Android).
-
Fill out the form. Enter your first and last names, then enter your email address. If you have multiple email addresses, you can try this multiple times.
- You may need to prove you're not a robot by identifying the letters and numbers in the box.
-
Click Continue. You'll see on the next page whether or not an Apple Account is associated with your information. If Apple finds an Apple Account with your information, click Go to Your Account.
- If you forgot your Apple Account, chances are that you also don't remember the password. You can follow the steps on screen to reset your password.
