Do you want to compare items on Amazon? One way is to add products to your Shopping Cart to view them side by side. If you want to view a detailed comparison, you can use a third-party extension, such as "E-Commerce Side-to-Side." This wikiHow article teaches how to compare Amazon products.

Compare Amazon Products

You can add items to your cart to view them side by side and do a quick comparison. For a more indepth comparison, you can use the Google Chrome Extension E-Commerce Side-to-Side to view a detailed list of information from various Amazon products.

Using your Shopping Cart

  1. You can either log in to Amazon.com in a web browser on your computer or open the Amazon Shopping app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Use the search bar at the top of the page to search for the name of a product you want to compare. Then click or tap the page to view the product page.

  3. This will add the product to your cart. Adding a product does not mean you have to purchase it. You can use your cart to view all the products you are interested in side by side.
  4. Use the search bar at the top of the page to find another product you'd like to compare. Click or tap the product to view the product page.
  5. This will add the product to your cart. You can add any other items to your shopping cart that you want to compare.
  6. This displays all items in your shopping cart. If you are using a web browser, it’s in the upper-right corner. If you are using the mobile app, it’s at the bottom of the app.
  7. You can see a brief description, image, and price for all the items in your shopping cart. Click or tap a product to view its product page, where you can view more information, such as the product specs, the rating, and reviews. Click or tap the back arrow to return to your shopping cart.
  8. After you have finished your comparison, click or tap Delete below any items you don’t want to purchase. This will remove them from your shopping cart.[1]

Using E-Commerce Side-to-Side

  1. E-Commerce Side to Side is a web browser plug-in you can use to view the information from eCommerce products side to side in the same window. Go to ecommercesidetoside.com in a web browser.
  2. The E-Commerce Side-to-Side plug-in is available for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Click Get for Chrome or Get for Edge at the bottom of the page. Then click Add to Chrome or GET at the top of the page. Finally, confirm you want to add the extension.
  3. To do so, click the icon that resembles a puzzle piece to the right of the address bar. Then click E-Commerce Side-to-Side.
  4. Clicking the yellow Fullscreen button in the upper-right corner of the extension window will open the extension in full-screen mode in a separate browser tab. Not only will this make your side-by-side comparison easier to read, it will also make it easier to switch back and forth between Amazon and the E-Commerce Side-to-Side.
  5. Go to Amazon.com and search for the item you want to compare. Click the product to view the information page. Then highlight the URL in the address bar at the top of the page. Press Ctrl + C (or Command + C on Mac) to copy the URL.
  6. Click the browser tab that has E-Commerce Side-by-Side open, or open it in your web browser extensions menu.
  7. Click the large box in the middle of the plug-in window and press Ctrl+V (or Command+V on Mac) to paste the product URL. Click the blue button that says Add to comparison table.
  8. Return to Amazon.com and search for the second product you want to compare. Highlight the URL for the second product you want to compare. Press Ctrl + C (or Command + C on Mac) and copy the URL.
  9. Click the browser tab that has E-Commerce Side-by-Side open, or open it in your web browser extensions menu.
    • If you don’t see the comparison table from your first product listed at the bottom, click Open tabs to open any previous comparisons you are working on.
  10. It’s the blue button at the top of the page. This allows you to add more products to your side-by-side comparison.
    • Alternatively, you can click Add product from web search. This allows you to enter a product name and select an E-Commerce website from the drop-down menu. Click search to have the browser extension to do the search for you.
  11. This adds the product to the comparison table at the bottom of the page. You can now compare information about both products side-by-side.[2]
    • You can add additional products to the comparison table to compare even more products.
