Beware wild Pokémon such as Bronzong.
This way, if you fail to catch it, you can start over.
The catch rate of this Pokémon is high for legendary Pokémon. Instead weaken with an attack and then chuck quick balls. Because quick balls lose their effectiveness after 5 turns, switch to ultra balls. You probably won't even need the ultra balls if it takes only one hit to get Palkia down to red.

Why is catching Palkia so difficult?

Palkia is a legendary Pokémon, and these creatures generally have very low catch rates. To successfully catch Palkia, you should significantly weaken it and inflict a status condition, such as paralysis or, ideally, sleep, before attempting capture.

You cannot find Dialga in Pokémon Pearl. Each game features an exclusive legendary: Palkia is exclusive to Pearl, and Dialga is exclusive to Diamond. To obtain the other legendary, you must trade with a player who owns the opposing version. Alternatively, in Pokémon Platinum, you can catch both.

If it is night, use a dusk ball. If the match has just started, use a quick ball (the first 2-3 turns is good, then stop). If the game lasts more than 30 turns, use a timer ball. If you run out of ultra balls, great balls can still work.

Dragon-Type attacks will hit Palkia hard, and Ground- and Fighting-type attacks will put the hurt on Dialga, so try not to use these moves (unless they are weak ones like Rocksmash, or if your attacker is weak enough to utilize a powerful blow)
