How to Cancel a PayPal Payment

This wikiHow teaches you how to cancel a recurring or subscription payment, as well as how to cancel a pending or unclaimed payment on Paypal.

Method 1

Go to https://www.paypal.com in a web browser. If you're not automatically logged in, click Log In in the upper-right corner of the window and enter your credentials.

Click the payment you'd like to cancel.
- You may need to click on Next Page in the bottom-right corner of the window to find the payment you're looking for if you have multiple recurring payments.
It's next to "Status" under "Billing Details."
This confirms the cancellation of the recurring payment.

Go to https://www.paypal.com in a web browser. If you're not automatically logged in, click Log In in the upper-right corner of the window and enter your credentials.

Click on the payment you want to cancel. It must be under the "Pending" section of the Activity tab.
- If the payment you want to cancel is in the “Completed” section of the Activity tab, the payee has already received the payment, and it cannot be canceled or refunded. To get your money back you must request a refund or contact the Resolution Center.^{[1]

At the bottom of the transaction dialog box, you'll see a message that "[Username] hasn't accepted yet" next to a Cancel link.
Your payment has been canceled.

PayPal payments made with a credit card can take as long as 30 days to be refunded to your credit card account. Keep this factor in mind when canceling payments made by credit card, and know that refunds may not be processed instantly.
