In this article we'll go over the best overall class, the best class for beginners, as well as some other great classes you can play. Keep reading to learn more.

Section 1 of 4:

Best Overall Class

  1. This class is considered by many 99 Nights in the Forest players to be the best overall class for both solo and group games.[1] It's incredibly strong right out the gate, and only gets stronger the more you level it up. The downside, however, is that it costs 600 Diamonds, so you'll need to save up before you can purchase it.[2]
    • Cost: 600 Diamonds
    • Starter Tools: 1 Laser Cannon, 1 Alien Armor
    • Level 1 Perks:
      • Positive: Excellent night visibility
      • Negative: If your alien tech overheats, you'll take damage and have your armor lowered temporarily
    • Level 2 Perks: Alien tech deals increased damage
      • Level 2 Requirements:
        • Damage multiple targets with 1 shot (50)
        • Get kills with alien tech (200)
    • Level 3 Perks: Kills restore some alien tech energy
      • Level 3 Requirements:
        • Damage multiple targets with 1 shot (100)
        • Get kills with alien tech (350)

Best Beginner Class

  1. While this class does cost 25 Diamonds so you'll need to grind a little bit before you can choose it, it won't take you long to save up enough to buy it. All of the class's abilities are useful, which makes it a great choice for the price point, especially for new players.[3]
    • Cost: 25 Diamonds
    • Level 1 Perks: +2 sack space
    • Level 2 Perks: Open chests 20% faster
      • Level 2 Requirements:
        • Scrap scrapped (450)
        • Studs travelled (2,500)

Other Top-Tier Classes

  1. The Big Game Hunter is a good choice if you're playing a solo game, as it requires a lot of pelts that your teammates might need. It is a bit slow at first, but once you level the Big Game Hunter up to max level, you can almost become invincible. It's a versatile class that is really good for longer runs of the game.[4]
    • Cost: 600 Diamonds
    • Starter Tools: 1 Rifle, 12 Rifle Ammo, 1 Pelt List
    • Level 1 Perks: Can consume animal pelts to gain buffs
    • Level 2 Perks: Higher pelt drop rate
      • Level 2 Requirements:
        • Kill wolves (70)

  2. The Necromancer can be an incredibly strong class if you know how to play it right. This class can collect souls and summon cultists that are used to fight for you and defend you, which means it's really hard to get ambushed. This class can work in solo or team gameplay, and it can easily solo the Cultist Stronghold.[5]
    • Cost: 600 Diamonds
    • Starter Tools: 1 Cultist Staff
    • Level 1 Perks:
      • You can collect souls from dead cultists
      • You can use your staff to consume souls and summon cultists
      • You can have up to 6 summons at a time
    • Level 2 Perks: Resurrected cultists do more damage

      • Level 3 Requirements:
        • Deal damage with summons (5,000)
        • Resurrect cultists (200)
  3. While Assassin can be a little difficult to level up, it's a strong combat class option. It comes with a lot of ranged ammunition, plus it has a running speed buff—though that buff comes at the expense of 15% of your HP. However, it's still one of the best classes to play in 99 Nights in the Forest despite the slight health nerf.[6]
    • Cost: 500 Diamonds
    • Starter Tools:
      • 1 Katana
      • 120 Throwing Knives
    • Level 1 Perks:
      • Positive: +10% sprint speed
      • Positive: +5% chance for throwing knives to spawn in chests
      • Negative: -15% HP
    • Level 2 Perks: First strike on an enemy has a chance to crit
      • Level 2 Requirements:
        • Kill enemies with no damage taken (100)
        • Studs travelled (2,500)
    • Level 3 Perks: +10% chance for throwing knives to spawn in chests
      • Level 3 Requirements:
        • Kill enemies with no damage taken (250)
        • Studs travelled (10,000)
  4. If you're playing with a group, the Chef is the best support class you can play. While the Chef can't directly sustain itself, it can support your team members by cooking up dishes that give major bonuses. If you're playing solo, this class isn't very useful, however.[7]
    • Cost: 150 Diamonds
    • Starter Tools:
      • 1 Chef's Station Blueprint

        • Cook special dishes (50)
    • Level 3 Perks: Unlock a new recipe
      • Level 3 Requirements:
        • Food cooked (400)
